4 for 4!!! Best beam routine I've seen her hit in a while!
She is just too awesome
Look at those floor landings! Look at that choreography! So, so lovely.
Someone needs to send these videos to NBC to get them to STFU about how Bross and Weiber are the best gymnasts ever. I really love Kormova's beam routine. She has really improved on that event and come up with a routine she can hit.
wtf is with the commentators? i don't think they know anything about gymnastics!great gymnastics by komova tho!
Team USA: take note, this is a hell of a gymnast with world class choreography and fierce presence. Marta Karolyi needs to pull out out the commi whip and get at team usa if they have any chance for worlds in 2011. I have a feeling Team USA in London 2010 will have a repeat of Sydney 2000, crash & burn.
Eat your heart out Jordyn Wieber.Anonymous at 10.20, I don't really see that. The US are going to get at least team bronze barring an absolute disaster and have the favourites for both the AA and vault titles- they're going to get those 3 medals at a minimum, and probably more too. 2011 and 2012 on the other hand, might be a tougher job. You can bet China will have minted some new passports for a couple of fantastic foetuses by then.
London is two years away. Komova is great now, but she could easily break before then.
Maroney stuck her Amanar. She does it as well as a man! USA! USA!
NBC doesn't care about a Russian Jr. They will hype the American girls regardless because it's U.S. Nationals. The only people who really need to know about Komova are the American coaches/gymnasts, because she is great. Her vault, however, is suspect.
Agreed with the anonymous person at 9:23. The one guy doing commentary in particular didn't know jack shit about gymnastics. I stayed up for sessions 1 and 2, and he literally called EVERYTHING either a forward or back flip. Well, unless it was some sort of leap or jump...then he'd either call it "does her splits" or "nice jump with a kick." He also called a lot of routines "well done" that were horribly sloppy--leg separations, falls, bad bar swings, cowboying...you get the picture. Dude's GOD AWFUL commentary makes me miss NBC's terrible trio.
Man, Komova is so beautiful to watch. I hope she makes it to 2012 unscathed. However, that Amanar still makes me wince for her knees. It does look better here, but she still appears to be twisting into the mat. Hopefully she will keep improving on it because I would love to see her as the one to beat in London.
Loved Komova's beam routine and floor was nice too. I just wish the commentators would shut up. I could barely hear the music. Ughh
her bars are light years ahead of Bross...
It's to early to be peaking. I also think the artistry you people are seeing is in your mind. Is she better then Bross and Wieber HELL yes but come on. This isn't exactly old school artistic.
Well she's what, 14 or 15? It doesn't look like she has gone through puberty, so get back to me once she has hit "the change." Cuz that seems to have a habit of knocking world class gymnasts on their @sses.
I think Komova is a great gymnast and certainly one to watch out for. But she's not a factor in the 2010 World scene. So I'm not sure I am going to hold her to too high of a standard until she is of age. She definitely looks breakable (especially her knees on vault) and will need to age her floor routine before 2012. So yes I like her but as with all of the other young talents out there right now, it is way to early to know what she will look like in 2 years. And I agree the commentator was terrible.
Great Bars routine, not TOO ipressed wih the rest. She'll be amazing come 2012 and i am very excited to hopeflly see more than 2 girls in the mix for the AA. I agree with another post before about waiting for her to hit "the change" with her body. hope it doesnt affect her too much. Gonna be an exciting Olympic games if everyone can stay healthy :)
I definitely think that Komova is better than Wieber right now. But I also think that Wieber's coaches are pacing her level of difficulty up to the Olympics rather than packing it all in now as it seems to be the case with Komova. I don't have any inside info about Wieber to back up that statement, but it just seems that her routines don't have full difficulty yet, particularly on bars. I also don't think that Komova's artistry is really that much better than Wieber although her form and presentation is definitely more refined. Personally I think Kyla has more potential to beat Komova come 2012 assuming that Kyla increases her difficulty, too. Perhaps 2012 will be a Kyla and Grishina smackdown.
Flip C.... Pacing Wieber's difficulty? I think it's the opposite. She's already doing the top level of difficulty at 15, which may be why she has been so injury prone lately. I think Komova is short on a couple handstands, but other than that, love her bar work. She's twisting into the ground on vault, and her last pass on floor looks a bit ankle-crunching too. Hopefully she'll be competitive in 2012, but it's too early to predict anything for Bross/Wieber/Komova.
I don't want to say much about Komova until she's grown up a little. Right now she's just a cutesy little junior with beautiful form. What is so great about her floor? She's doing the same tumbling as Aly Raismann and has cutesy choreography. I do enjoy her beam though... Very floaty and nice form.
She may not have the choreography of years past, but she definitely has the beautiful lines and form.
Komova has gorgeous lines, can dance etc. And even a little attitude. She'll be eligible next year, and I have a feeling we will see a more mature routine from her soon.I will say just because Komova had great difficulty here doesnt' mean that she's done all of her difficulty. I don't think that a coach who encourages his 13 year old to do a double/double on floor, an Amanar, an Arabian on beam etc, gets to go on the list of someone who is "peaking his athlete for the right time." If you want to talk about someone doing that Kyla's coach is it.Besides you dont' know this is as far as Komova will go. Viktoria has actually done harder passes on floor, a Patterson on beam etc. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of the main goals is to upgrade her bars, even further.I agree with the people about the growth spurt. But she is 15 now so I wonder how much of a growth spurt she's do to have...She should be okay for one year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7nhoKEkI5AThis is Komova's mother aged 17, same age Viktoria will be in 2012. I doubt puberty is going to be too much of a bitch. She's definitely my favorite AA gymnast by far at the moment and I hope she'll stay healthy and reach her full potential.
WTF F**** the russians she will break before london all tht difficulty she is bond to get hurt any day she has already reached her peak, unlike jordyn wieber or kyla ross
LOL to to the post above me at 6:43 AM. Komova and Wieber have basically the same difficulty level and are about the same age. How can you say that with the difficulty Komova is throwing that she is bound to get injured and not say the same about Jordyn who was JUST injured at Nationals. Come on, argue all you want, but at least do it in an intelligent manner.
Yeah. Its been Jordyn not Komova who has been out for months of a time with injuries. Jordyn's doing comparable difficulty to Komova everywhere but bars. And you know what bars doesn't strike me as the event where your most likely to bust a knee. Jordyn's coach has actually mentioned that he doesn't see some major upgrades. That they will adjust a few things to up the levels but for the most part its working on dance, execution for Jordyn. Jordyn could upgrade her bars with some connections made though.I'm a bit concerned about the difficulty BOTH girls are doing. To me Jordyn/Komova and Kayla/Grishina are far more comparable to each other than Jordyn/Ross.
Gymnastics always looks like such fun. Then I remember that I'm 5'11" and was probably taller than this girl by the time I was 8. :)
Komova does not have great form. I hate when people just hate on the US for the sake of hating and then make comments that are un true.Komova has many leg separations on bars and some bent knee's on beam. She has far from perfect form. She is improving so that is great.
The reason Jordyn doesn't have as much difficulty on bars is hardly because her coach is holding her back and pacing her properly... it's because she doesn't have the ability! Speaking of her coach keeping gymnasts from getting injured... where's Kami Moore?
