I have to say... Johnny was actually quite adorable on Around the Gym tonight. I've never really been a huge fan of his but he had so much enthusiasm about gymnastics and being there. I must admit I'm starting to see what the big deal is about him. It's like as soon as he came on everything lit up. It's hard to resist that smile. It seems like he has a million ideas and ambitions going on inside his head at any given moment.
Yeah, I totally can't stand Weir and his never-ending fame parade, but he completely made the post-game show for me. I loved his enthusiasm for gymnastics. A lot of skaters are friendly with gymnasts, and I love that.
I really love Johnny but I wish he had concentrated more on the gymnastics and less on the wedgies. I tend to think this was an on the air audition for future guest spots and wonder if he blew it with his wedgie talk.
@Anon 5:41 AM It's clear he was invited there for the fluff and not to talk about technique. Audition? He's proven in the past that he's good at commentating (eg. World FG Champ. last March for Universalsports).
I love Johnny's interaction with Nastia. Nastia's a bit inhibited maybe because of her association with Johnny's nemesis Mr EL, but given a chance these two will chat like there's no tomorrow.
I was surprised Nastia didn't act apalled by the wedgie question. I like the more fun side of her, but I do miss her competitive bitchface. The two of them had pretty good chemistry.
I was actually surprised by the wedgie question, Johnny knows how skaters keep their costumes in place so why wouldn't he naturally assume it was the same with gymnasts? Too bad he didnt' get more of a chance to talk gymnastics.
o.m.g. Johnny and Alicia. I would pay money to watch that, it would be hysterical. I also loved the leg kick he gave when John R brought out the boas. Gosh I love Johnny Weir!!!
I wondered exactly the same thing Johnny did?! LOL, those leotards did look really uncomfortable.
All of those young women are awesome! I totally respect them and their sport. A very long time ago, when I was 11, I landed wrong during my floor routine and tore the heck out of the ligaments in my right ankle. Unlike now with better and more effective treatments, that injury meant the end of gymnastics and ice skating for me:-(
Oh, one more thing... I watched Liberace when I was a kid. I loved him. My mom loved him, as did all of the women in my family. We were all so naive in those days;-) Still, the man was a sweetheart and played some fabulous piano.
