Ms. Anna Pavlova is rounding into form. Mother Russia may need to call upon her for beam at Worlds this year for both stability and leadership. Heaven only knows that Nabieva is not stable enough to be the emotional epicenter of the team.
That would be awesome but the only problem is last I had heard, she did not make the national team. However, it wouldn't suprise me if they pulled some strings to get her on it for Worlds.
I don't quite trust Russia with her. If they pulled her in for Worlds, I have a feeling they would leave her back out in the cold as soon as Mustafina came back.
She seems to be in good shape. i love watching her form, her leaps, her general lines. i also love that thing she does when she's going into her round off, to me that adds a lot. i love att to detail. havent kept up w/russia lately, but don't understand why she wouldn't be on the ntl team even if mustafina and komova were in play. i mean even if they don't like her, wouldn't it be good to have a spare/suitable replacement around? go anna, hope you make it to the olympics again and get a medal this time!!!
How old is Pavlova now? It's so much nicer watching the older girls dance on floor, you just can't have that polish and presence when you're sixteen. I love the original full turn that she fell on during beam that she also does on floor.
It would be nice to have Pavlova around a few more years, but I don't know if they'll have a need for her next year, once Mustafina hopefully recovers, Komova starts competing more, and Grishina goes senior. However, she does (or did) have two vaults, and they were a hella lot better than Nabieva's. Maybe she could finally get an EF medal?
She's 23. And I think the polish and performance quality really depends on the gymnast; Chusovitina at 35 will never be able to match the poise and elegance of a 12-year old Pavlova.
Love me some Pavs!!! She is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt never gets old watching her. Love it.

ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Pavs will be on that Olympic Team. Keep chipping away.

ReplyDeleteShe is a a beauty. I don't care if she falls or wobbles. She's better than 90% of the robots out there.
