This and That

The draw for SECs is out.  Alabama starts on bars and ends on vault.  Florida starts on a bye before bars tomorrow.

Ottavio says he will wait until Monday to see if Japan can host Worlds in October, otherwise he'll go forward with a Worlds in April/May.  How nice of the ISU President to really be thinking about the skaters who are currently stuck in limbo with regards to their training.  Ottavio says he doesn't want to fight with Japan.

With Worlds in limbo, Yu-Na Kim has decided to PTFO and head back to South Korea.  She will continue to train until Worlds are settled.  If Ottavio prevents us from seeing Voir's Samba and/or Yu-Na's Arirang at full strength...

The Gymnastics Examiner has a live blog from podium training at the French International.  (Updates on Mustafina, Porgras, Deng Linlin, etc.)

Sandra Izbasa's floor routine in training.

  1. This is where gymnastics gets it wrong... The French International and the Jesolo meet, both featuring big names, at the same exact time? Gymnastics needs to start making more sense. The sport would keep more fans if all top names didn't just show up together at one competition per year (Worlds). Figure skating is far more organized with the Grand Prix Series/ISU events/Senior Bs. I would kill to see that organization in gymnastics!

  2. I can't believe that he is still even repeating the October BS. With the current nuclear plant situation, it's obvious that no one will want to go to to Japan even in the fall and that Japan should not be hosting any sports competitions for a while.

  4. the delay of Worlds may be a blessing in disguise for Voir. I don't think she is in condition to compete and if they have to wait until October that will give them the time they need to relax and then come back up again.

  6. Gymnastics has its worlds in October in Tokyo and it'll be interesting to see if that venue gets changed at all and if not see how that works if figure skating holds their worlds in Japan in October.

  7. Sasha looks ridiculously ripped. Those abs are as good as, if not better than, Evan's. Also, boy should use more sunscreen. That shoulder burn looks like it won't feel too good later.

  12. Radiation is not performance enhancing, at least not in the first generation of exposure.
