Alabama @ Michigan Broadcast

Two teams to remember...

(It is nice that Elise hated Bev so much that it took a meet in her honor AND a paid commentary gig to get her back to the arena where she competed for four years...)

  1. From what I heard, Elise was uncoachable at Michigan. She did great but what would she have done if she was able to work. In her defense, I am sure that the fact that she went through that crap in 2000 destroyed her. I think that Michigan was a smart move for her, she had a lot of success and most importantly turned out pretty normal.

  2. Hmmm, I wasn't aware that Elise hated Bev. Interesting!

Why is Ashley Sledge leading off for Alabama on bars? She probably would have scored much higher than a 9.825 if she was later in the lineup. Sarah Patterson did something similar when she had Jeana Rice early in the lineup on vault. I don't understand it.

That was a hot vault rotation for Alabama, and I prefer their beam lineup this year. Their freshmen have nice routines, and Hoffman is lovely, even when she wobbles through her entire beam set, lol.

  3. After watching a lot of Georgia meets this year, these scores seem so low for the quality of gymnastics performed

Bama has had shaky bars for much of the beginning of the season... putting them in a hole in Arkansas and dooming them in Florida. I think Patterson is looking to start the bars out with momentum instead of risking more problems

  5. Having a bad athlete-coach relationship doesn't mean Elise was uncoachable. Sure some athletes are egocentric at the expense of the team & so forth but I don't really see Elise as one of them. A lot of athletes have better experiences and enjoyment of their sport (with better coaching) independent of the NCAA collegiate experience. It's possible that the styles of Bev & Elise were just incompatible from the get-go, not that Elise was 'uncoachable'.

  6. It took more than 4 years for Ray... She was a super senior IIRC...

Welcome to Crisler Arena, where scores go to die! Haven't you heard that times are tough in Michigan and the judges have to save all their extra tenths in case of a depression? I think Bev is smart to have the last away meet be down at Georgia or Alabama almost every year -- tough competition is good right before tournament time, and a high away score (if you hit) is always handy.

  8. Almost everyone in gymnastics hates Bev for being an awful bitch, but Elise can be a tad stuck up. Her teammates liked her. Never heard anything positive about Bev.
