This and That
Marlie discuss their new programs in lovely attire. Commence Grand Prix fever! Meryl and Charlie know how to contradict themselves. They never focus on placement, but let it be known that they intended to win last year and that it was their time.
Johnny Weir knows how to keep his name in the press. The diva told Time Out New York that he will return to the competitive arena as Carmen. Definitely worth reading. When *is* season two going to air? The show returns as often as Ab Fab.
Savchenko and Szolkowy plan to debut a throw triple axel at Skate America.
How long until Jordyn Wieber goes pro?
Bridget Sloan was named team caption of the Pan Am squad.
Florent Amodio is banking on the quad this season.
Richard Dornbush talks to the press.
Elvis talks about mental preparation. Remember, skating comes from the blade and is where Elvis is at right now.
Backstage at Battle of the Blades with Tanith Belbin.

ugh ricky dornbush
ReplyDeletehow about no
Jordyn as a pro will reach the level of Carly Patterson stardom... She's not completely devoid of personality but she has no spark. No mid-west, corn-fed, happy go lucky, I-have-no-idea-what-a-frown-is Shawn Johnson. She doesn't have the family "DNA" ala Nastia. Unless she bust a Kerri Strug-moment at the Olympics, ya don't see her getting too famous.
ReplyDeleteHer dad said in a mag interview that they weren't visitingcolleges til after London but that he doesn't want to make the decision hastily given the pros/cons.
Jordyn would not make it as a pro. She doesn't have the it factor. And while she's not ugly, she doesn't have a marketable face: She isn't overly beautiful or cute. She's just average in terms of personality.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of Meryl's Disney princess dresses. Surely she's capable of something edgier?
ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding that Jordyn wants to do NCAA.
ReplyDeleteJordyn's parents mentioned that she wanted to do NCAA, but that they weren't going to visit colleges until after the Olympics. You have to be careful about going pro. Bross went pro, and frankly, although she's a great gymnast and I'm sure is a wonderful individual, I don't think that she's very marketable. I don't think that Jordyn is, either. I do think that Jordyn would be a killer NCAA gymnast. Wonder where she would go.
ReplyDeleteBross going pro was likely a mistake in that she has ZERO star appeal. She'll be as famous as Memmel & Jana.
ReplyDeleteJordyn & her parents should take notice. Anon above is right, JW doesnt have the "it" factor. Even an accumulation of $100,000 in prize $, appearances, endorsements pre& immediately post the Olympics is still not enough for 4 years of college, even U of Michigan.
No wonder Meryl and Charlie can't bring the sexy in their performances. She dresses and sounds like a six-year-old and is a Tri-Delt to boot. I don't think she really needs to be "edgy"; presenting herself as a grown woman would probably do it.
ReplyDeleteWait, Elvis is back in Canada AND got married? How did I miss this?!
ReplyDeleteJordyn's marketability will rely heavily on whether or not the US wins team gold in London. That is more important than the AA for for her $ making potential. If Team USA won in 2004, Carly would have been an IT girl.
ReplyDelete@ anonymous 4:27.
ReplyDeleteSee kids, that's another benefit of busting your ass to become great in the sport of gymnastics. You can attract trolls who have no life other than to make snide comments about your looks.
Ya'll are some mean ugly hearted people! SMH.... -_- BTW Memmel also did a Gatorade commercial :-)
ReplyDeleteI think Memmel is hot. Sacramone has a more stunning figure, but her personality...I'd have to be drunk to tag it. I could see being married to Memmel, though.
ReplyDeleteAnon 4:27- how about a commercial where she actually does gymnastics, say swinging the heck out of the uneven bars? Or perhaps one of those makeover type promos? I bet you'd be surprised how pretty she could be with a bit of brow plucking and makeup with her hair worn down. She just doesn't put a shallow premium on looks, unlike some other people.
