International Junior Gymnastics Competition- AA

Lexie Priessman won the AA at the International Junior Gymnastics Competition despite some low scores all around.  Lexie needs to be nailing that beam set before she gets too tall.  Amelia Hundley finished second.  It is great for these girls to win when the pressure is on.  They couldn't afford a loss with the field at the event.  It is great for their mental strength to win when they have to.

When one watches Amelia Hundley, it is obvious that MLT works her hard like one of the oxen on the Oregon Trail.

  1. haha when did Amelia pick up the middle name of Magdalena? She has a nice standing full, but I could see why they would play it safe. Why no Russians or Romanians at the meet this time? Or China. This is pretty much the skating equivalent of Jr Worlds, but the field was smaller than usual. The gymnastics competition schedule is odd.

  2. I was so unimpressed with Amelia when I first saw her. Now I am so impressed. She seems very consistent.

  3. Amelia is also only 13, which surprised me. She seems older. She's good for her age, for sure.

  4. Lexie smacked her heels on the low bar... Ouch. She's great though

  5. Lexie got a 12.8 for a beam set that had no falls or huge errors. Sure, there were wobbles on several skills and a broken connection, but wow.

  6. Amelia had one of the best junior turnarounds between 2010 and 2011. Her watered down L10 routines at Supergirl completely surpassed her 2010 elite routines so I thought maybe she should just stick with the JO...but she totally blew me away at nationals this year. I can't wait to see her difficulty increase as she gets older, and hope she can be a contender in 2016.
