Richard Dornbush is working on mastering the quad.  According to his coach, he ''rents'' the jump but doesn't ''own'' it.  He was seen practicing the quad in Greensboro.  Nathan Chen will move up to juniors.  He is working on adding a triple-triple and is beginning to work on a triple axel.

Since everyone likes to over-hype the Russian Juniors, here is a feature on Adelina Sotnikova.

  1. I thought it was interesting that Dornbush planned elements in the free skate included a quad as the first jump. So someone thought they would put that in there. Aspirational? Psych out? It is there.

  2. WTH are you talking about?

  3. The skater submitted "planned elements" sheet that Dornbush submitted included a quad as the opening jump. Obviously the "planned elements" sheet can differ from what the skater does on the ice.

  6. Really enjoyed Dennis' SP, some beautiful jumps and nice to see him hold it together -- the crowd was REALLy behind him too.

Don't care for his LP, too much Evan-esque arm flailing (and a silly costume) but the crowd, again, loved him.

Pang & Tong were good, but their LP last year was better. Unfortunate how one of the announcers was audibly coughing during their SP.
