Nastia on beam. She is really improving. If only she came back three months sooner and fixed the shoulder.

Bross looks great. Best switch ring out there. I find her so much more intriguing/interesting than Kyla Ross. We're probably going to dominate the team competition anyway... I would love to take someone like Bross who is a bit more of a risk on beam (which she maybe wouldn't even be needed for in Finals) than Kyla, but just so much more interesting, and better on bars (regardless of how the National judges score them). Kyla to me is just an ordinary robot.
ReplyDeleteI love how people randomly love Bross now that she is down and out. We thought she was gross for years!
DeleteNah, it's mainly just has knock knees. She has nice toe point and strong flexiblity. Hard to call her gross. But yeah, anyone with a heart wants to see this kid do her best this weekend.
DeleteI agree with Anon 8:18 -- watching that beam routine was painful. That poor right knee looks completely disfigured! It just feels like she's gonna hurt herself again...
DeleteI feel bad for the girl, she's been through a lot - but she still has hideous legs. Some of that's genetic (knock kneed), some of it's just lack of grace. Her upper body isn't too pretty to look at in between skills either. New code or no, gymnastics still just isn't all about power and skill.
DeleteBross is ROBOTIC just like all of the American gymnasts. They just lack beauty. They have power and strength, very clean form but are robotic. I don't understand why some Americans just can't admit it that they have elegant issues. I'm willing to admit that Russia has raggedy form but even with their arm waves and clean posture (which trolls says ain't artistry) they are still miles artistic than the Americans.
ReplyDeleteRoss and Bross are both ROBOTIC & BORING, simply true. I'll be happy if America wins. Russia's chances looks gloomy and I hope the judges do the right thing and penalize them for their execution faults.
I don't think Bross is robotic at all. You don't know what you're gonna get when you watch her. Sometimes she's ferocious and aggressive on the equipment and other times when she dismounts beam she looks petrified. lol. Basically, you can tell that girl has actual emotions. Ross is just a brick wall.
DeleteIt looks like finnegan upgraded floor, what would her start value be if she connects both her 2nd and 3rd passes to the leaps shown here?
ReplyDelete6.4 if she gets it all.
DeleteRoss is not robotic. Bross is fucking gross. Kyla is at least watchable and can keep her damn legs together when swinging a bar.
ReplyDeleteCan you stop lying about Nastia's fake shoulder injury. You fucking are so damn biased I want to smack you (Don't worry I will not) She does not look better. She looks the same on beam and she did at Classics and Nationals. She takes no risks in that beam routine but the switch leap she is not getting credit for. Talk about blah.
Aunt Joyce isn't lying about Nastia's shoulder injury. Liukin has reported that she has had issues training UB because of her shoulder. If the injury is fake as you insist, then the fib is coming from Liukin herself, not AJ.
DeleteBross has two World medals on bars, so obviously the judges are far less concerned with her knock knees than you are. I think her form is generally as good as it could be considering how she's built. Nobody can accuse her off not knowing how to swing bars. Ross is improved on bars, but let's be real, she's no better than Bross.
DeleteWhy is it so hard to believe that Nastia obtained a shoulder injury as she rushed to get back on bars? I think it's completely understandable considering she tried to do the impossible-- which is coming back at the last minute. Let's be real, she takes as many "risks" on beam as Kyla Ross does.
Anon 9:15 is probably one of those people who believe Shawn's knee was the reason she couldn't make it to nationals......
DeleteDouglas is looking VERY good. This makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteHer floor is growing on me. The music isn't traditional floor music (We No Speak Americano) but it is upbeat, and is used in my advertisments (Pitbull's commerical promoting Budlight and the Tositioes commercials) so it a very recognizable tune that I am sure will go over well with the London audience.
She may not have the best choreography (but who does other than a handful in the World) and she is doing her best to sell it and diva it up a bit. I enjoy that she smiles throughout her floor and shows some expression.
I can totally see Gabby rock the o2 arena with this floor when the AA gold is on the line.
It was also featured in the Inbetweeners.
DeleteRoss reminds me of a poor man's Maria Olaru. Do you remember Maria Olaru? Yeah, me neither. Kyla has that Romanian robotic quality that Marta craves.
ReplyDeleteIn fairness to Liukin, she was quoted as having shoulder issues as early as April. Valerie refused to comment on the status of Nastia's training way back then and merely said "they're working on her shoulder" So even before Visa's she already revealed that she has a minor tear in her labrum but not big enough to r require surgery!
ReplyDeleteAJ let us know about Nastia's shoulder issues back in February, after she missed the February camp. Valeri spoke about the shoulder during an interview in March. It's been an ongoing problem. Hindsight, I wish she would have started this a year earlier, gotten the surgery to fix it, and then come back with a vengence.
ReplyDeleteNastia herself has admitted in interviews that she over-estimated how long it would take her to get beam, and especially bars back. 3 months? I wish she had attempted her comeback 6 months to a year sooner. Just imagine how much better she could have been. She might have even had a workable FX down by now-with that Travis Wall choreo I still hope to some day see.
