The Russians are far and away the best on bars heading to London. Vault is a huge variable for them, how many Amanars? Anywhere between 1 and 3 is a possibility. How many will be stood up? Beam is shaky at best. They have some nice routines, but it will be a white knuckle rotation for all in TF. Floor is truly a liability which is a shame for a team with such beauty and grace. Weak tumbling. execution difficulties and low difficulty makes floor a tough event to end team Russias quest for gold on...I'm not convinced it can happen.
Agreed. They will be the most exciting to watch. They will not win gold but there is such a beauty and fire in their routines that are not in the American's. I think it's like Sasha Cohen's skating... ethereal in beauty and virtuosity but always with a big chance for a splat....But when they deliver it's pure heaven
USA will be the most exciting to watch. I thought gabby and annies ub were much better than the Russians. Plus I would rather watch Sarah jordyn and aly on floor anyday
I never thought I could hate someone's FX more than Gabby's, then Komova's new routine came along. Ugh, it's pretty awful. Mustafina's is almost as bad with that opera.
Why does Komova do her double pike last? She's always bent in half and lands her double tuck really well. They're both Ds right?
I suspect she is still being very cautious with the landings. She's not fight to stick them yet because that demands a lot of ankle strength. She should be fine in London and be more steady. I get a sense in all her routines here that she is saving her self and not giving it her all. A bit lazy but maybe just cautious. Damn what were they on when they picked the music? Both hers and Mustafina's make me puke in my mouth!
Good analogy about some very bad music edits. Mustafina's is only slightly better. YIKES! Where are the old Soviet choreographers when we need them? Back in the day this shit would've never passed muster!
Thank you Anna Pavlova for keeping the old guard up for Mother Russia, beautiful dance and music!! ♥
I think Komova's music is aimed at the UK crowds, or rather, that somebody at Round Lake thinks this is the kind of music British people listen to. FWIW.
