  1. Though she's not one of my favorites, this is still heartbreaking.

  2. Well, she was one of my favorites of this quad. I didn't think she had a chance to get on this team, but I still wanted to see her compete. Very sad... But at least she's still got a great career ahead of her in Florida! Good luck, Bridget!!

  4. Obviously a team longshot, but I would have loved to see her compete elite one more time.

  5. I guess I just don't get what is so heartbreaking about this- the girl was an Olympian, a World Champion, etc. and has a great career to look forward to at Florida. She wasn't going to make this team anyway...never really had a rep for being a hard worker?

  6. How cruel. Nobody deserves to have their career cut short like that. I was actually hoping for an alt spot for her, and she was one of my faves in 08. We haven't seen a lot from her in the past few years and she was definitely beginning to bring it... sigh.

  7. How was her career cut short? She's still in the middle of her career. It's just transitioning to college. Personally, I would love to see some alternates in there who haven't had an Oly experience yet. Why do people seem to think "elite" is all there is for a gymnast?

  8. One of the reasons this is rather heart breaking is the fact she couldn't even compete at trials.

Yes, she will still have chances to compete and yes, injury is part of the game. However, she's been training and trying to get a spot on the Olympics team and she was at the final hurdle. Whilst her chances were slim, she still had a shot. With the injury, she can't even try, despite all that preparation.

As for whether or not she's a hard worker, it's all relative...
