Elaine Zayak on the Other Side of Gold: the Zayak Rule, Distractions and Rivalries.
Note, we have gotten feedback on the interviews being too long so we are going to release this interview in segments as an experiment. The entire audio will be up on itunes and the videos will eventually be put in a playlist.
Well, I am looking forward to the whole vid being put here, even if it is split into 2 parts. You can't please everyone, so I'd stick with putting the whole vid here or in 2 parts, not the many little mini sections. Go put those on Youtube and iTunes for people so concerned with short segments. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think it is easier to watch them as shorter clips. This is so good and I can't wait for the rest. I'm amazed at how many people complain to you guys. Best thing in skating right now.
DeleteI like having the videos in full segments. I'm a bit confused where the rest of the interview is...so it will all be up by later today or throughout the week?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, just stick to one format, and move with it. I prefer to have the interview all in one video. Maybe a good middle ground is to spit the video if it's too long as a whole. For example, if the video is 1.5 hours, maybe just split that in 2 segments.
ReplyDeleteI personally did not like the first interview with Tai where it was broken up into so many segments on the playlist.
You guys are doing a service, so who cares if anyone is complaining about video length. That's just being picky! lol
I much prefer one long vid as well for the sake of continuity, but like Anonymous says, it's your project and service.
ReplyDeletePS - this one looks to be great. Elaine Zayak is a great choice and I love her candor. I can see Dave living for her "I'm the only one who counts" attitude.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I love about the video component. Elaine's face when Roz is brought up is priceless. Dave always has great facial expressions. Jenny is so polished and refined. Dave has definitely got better on camera very quickly. Love Elaine's Jersey grit.
DeleteI love The Skating Lesson in whatever format you choose to present!! I laugh that people are complaining that it's too long. Can talking about skating go too long??? And also, if it's too long then turn it off!!! Anyway, thanks so much for all of the time and energy you are putting into these interviews. I love them all!
ReplyDeleteHow great to see Elaine Zayak - enjoyed hearing her comments, and good job hunting down those videos.
ReplyDeleteI'm split about your issue on how best to present the videos. On one hand I was finding it hard to make time to watch one long interview and am more likely to click on a short one right away when it first shows up.
On the other hand, when I would actually get around to finding the time to watch a long interview, I generally found them to be more gratifying. I even liked the Debbi Thomas interview in that I really felt like I got a real feel for her as a person.
I definitely prefer the full interview. If you need a break you can pause it, or stop and remember where you were and start from there next time. Watching a playlist of tiny segments is a bit annoying. The interview is more like a full conversation, so the breaks feel like an interruption. I think you are going after an in-depth, full interview, so why not let the format reflect that?
ReplyDeleteOf course, free is free. Good luck with developing this project further.
Best.Quote.Ever - "But then, when I've been fat or injured that's when she would say 'hello.' When I was at my best, she wouldn't come near me."
ReplyDeleteFantastic research and background videos. Nice, nice work, Dave & Jenny.
I would definitely cast Zayak in the Real Housewives of Skating. The "private" moments would be awesome and fierce!!!!
ReplyDeletePS. Prefer the long videos, but will cling to whatever you post.
The Real Housewives of Skating.

I think if a skater is willing to give you their time for an interview, you should publish all of it. Of course you probably have to do some editing, but we want to see it all. Enjoying your hard work. Keep them coming.
