Gosh I just love Elaine, having been a fellow Jersian. Are there more clips? Because I love at the end when you mention someone's name and they need to say the first thing that comes to their mind. I'd ask "Katherine Healy" to see what she'd say.
great work! thank you so much for conducting these interviews and the effort to make them available for your readers.
If it counts for anything--I still love the continuity of one big interview b/c the flow works better for me as a viewer. I'm actually not such a fan of the chopped up interviews b/c the story gets a bit too broken up for me (I wasn't born while Zayak was competing in the 80s so I'm way less familiar with her story). If it's possible to make the interview available in one sitting--minus previews, I'd love it more!
We will go back to long form for our next interview. We had received so many complaints that things were too long (and often times people wouldn't watch part 2 of long interviews), so we tried something different for this one. There is about 50-60% of the interview left to post. We did names with Elaine, discuss body image, her current coaching, her rise in the sport, overcoming her disability and her views on skating.
So I was wondering if you have any contacts in the ice skating world that could make a suggestion to the figure skating community to choose music for their routines in 2014 Sochi that reflect support for the gay community being oppressed in Russia. I was thinking mabye they could choose music from known gay composers or from gay icons like Freddy Mercury or the Village People or George Michael or Boy George or something like that? Let me know what you think.
this was the best interview ever. well done dave!

DeleteI wasn’t a fan of Elaine’s skating but I really like her.

ReplyDeleteAn interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you must write much more on this topic, it may well not be a taboo subject but typically folks are not sufficient to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
