We start with a lovely Belgian on floor, but then get down to business with PINKPOWAH Kyla Ross. She hits her dty with a tiny hop back with ease for a 15.366 - nice generous scoring there! Let's see how they buckle down for the Amanars...

Gigantic Amanar from PINKPOWAH Simone Biles, large step forward, ankles crossed in the twist but wow. 15.85.

Chinese gymnast Shang Chunsong, who is 11 17 1/2 vaults a lovely piked FTY with no power. I think she'll get much better on vault once she grows hips in a few years at 23...

Musty disguises a hop on her DTY by immediately hopping 1/4 into a salute. Very NCAA of you! Wouldn't you DIE to see her with some Miss Val choreo? 14.891

Iordache hops a straddled-on DTY for 15.033 in her red/gray/black/depression leo. Ross really was rewarded for superior dynamics on her 15.366.

Tunney on beam for GBR immediately off on a roundoff layout 2ft. Shows some nerves the rest of the routine (jump HIGHER on that sissone so you can hit a 180 and not wobble!) but ends with a nice ro double pike. See MyKayla, THAT is a back set. Learn that before your triple back attempts into a very, very low pit.

Teramoto JPN with a lovely floor routine, working to a bluesy guitar/synth arrangement. Kohei has rubbed off on the entire JPN program - we get all of these wonderful gymnasts working difficult skills cleanly. Can we get Biles training in Japan? And don't get me started about Clubfoot, who is still threatening a comeback.

Popa Nedelcu ESP of the purple people eaters leo works a nice, powerful, clean bars set ending with a double layout 1/1, 1 step back. The Romanians would do well to get her some dual citizenship before Rio timelines expire - what a bars asset she could be for them.

Ferrolito is wearing a leo 100000000% better than yesterday - black sleeves, blue torso, so much better than the pink/green "my mother made me wear it" abomination that we almost forgive her. Can someone please kidnap Ferrari in her red w/ shoulder cutouts stupidity and make her wear this leo instead?

Oh Seitz. This music is cool, and you're cool, but this music not the style droids you're looking for. And there's a reason Marta reigned in Maroney's Shhhh! Classic hair. It's because a woodland creature on the back of your head is distracting.

Ross is on bars, Moors hits her Worlds-first layout double double on floor, and live we have to suffer through Mys freaking VAULTING? Someone murder the producer. I'm not kidding here, kittens.

Ross hits a gorgeous bars routine on the replay, even stalls the handstand after her blind change. Small hop on dismount. You just want to watch her swing all day long. She goes 15.100.

Biles hits her routine, even showing off a couple of dead-on handstands! Someday both she & Clubfoot will learn to not do a wide straddle on a Maloney, but whatevs. She hit and that's all Marta wants. And in the end, shouldn't we all want what Marta wants? Now all I want for Christmas is an Amanar and an eating disorder. Have YOU starved like Kyla today? 14.700 - apparently I wasn't the only one kinda horrified she had the top bars E scores of any gymnast in qualifications.

Rodionova on beam - whoopsie - did she go overtime? There should be a +.1 Neutral Addition for that toepoint. LOVELY. Are you watching juniors of the world? 12.066

Musty hits her insane bars set, including the mixed-grip Seitz to immediate low transition. Some feet apart, and once again disguises a hop foward on the dismount into an NCAA salute. I'm once again having delusions of Musty as a Bruin. Imagine the dismount Chris Waller could teach her. And the haughty Miss Val choreography. Musty teaching team trainer Wieber how to swing. Le sigh. 15.233

Gah - Iordache on bars. Can she learn to not straddle her Pak? Can it be done? And whose grip is wider, Iordache or Clubfoot? Bad bars basics is like a Romanian disease spreading through the world. Please no one let a Romanian near Round Lake. 14.200

Yao Jinnan swung a decent bars set and didn't get a facectomy on her Gaylord, so that's a bonus. Her coach is happy about the lack of facectomy. 15.333.

Okay, that's kind of it. Biles waits to go first on beam - a pressure situation for her! Marta mount, hits the 2.5 lunge turn with windmill arms. She's really cruising through this - anyone remember back in March when she was stressing beam at America Can Only Win Cup? She has slight wobbles, but is just attacking through it, large hop on her 2 bhs - tuck full-in mount. You go TEAMPINKVEGASPOWAH. 14.433.

Ferrari on fx - nails the opening Silivas. And for the woman who popularized the current Eurotrash trend of disembodied vocals in fx music, she uses a strict instrumental tango arrangement with a little bit of tacky synth string backing. Oh gurl, the giant McDonalds "M" in chest crystals is not doing your boobs a favor. Where is Miuccia Prada to rescue us? 14.466

Drat - Shang Childsong is already off beam with her 2ft layout. I was in the process of typing how she works beam like it's 10' wide because to her, it is. Literally no wobbles the rest of the routine. Now comes the difficult dismount - roundoff double pike, stuck cold. You go Childsong! 13.700 - sad face.

Vasiliki Misouli is literally wearing wrinkly flesh fabric all over her arms on fx. Who dropped out to give this 1st reserve a spot? I like that she has pretty arms but it doesn't match what her legs are dancing. And to emphasize her age, she wears beam shoes straight outta 1984. Seriously, watch 1984 Mary Lou Retton work beam with those SAME shoes.

Musty, aka Diva Bitch Face, covers up a multitude of wobble sins with her arms but can't disguise a waist bend after her double turn. 14.166. Rock the fx DBF!

Iordache hits her bhs-tucked full, but unexpectedly off on her straddled 2-foot layout. This bronze is anyone's game now. Hits her dismount sequence of ro bhs to triple full. 13.833.

Yao Jinnan beam - immediately off on her standing tucked full - the beam is eating the bronze peloton alive. I never realized before yesterday how appropriate a cycling analogy was to a competition held so close to Roubaix - thank you Uncle Tim! Yao sadly hits the rest of her routine as we wait for Ross. Biles must be so thrilled to have beam over while she watches all of these other missteps.

Ross beam - slow on front aerial - sheep connection. Wobble on side flip. Lovely switch leap, back tuck. Cold on side aerial. Beam clinic - sticks double tuck dismount. She may grab the lead here. Stunning routine.

Shang Childsong on fx. Low triple full immediate punch front. Music incredibly appropriate for the 9 y/o that she looks like. It may be hokier than Julie's original music in American Anthem, and that featured oompah horns. And ends with Sharks with Freakin Laser Beams! This is a standard music cut used in the junior ranks here - apparently China is over with custom music after Beijing. 13.700

I love how Biles & Ross are sitting around trying to pretend that Biles didn't have a .7 fx D score advantage in qualifications.

Musty DBF hits her first 2 passes cold. Looks a little knee-pained on the low landing of the triple full. One step on closing double tuck. Love watching the replay of the 1st pass, where she fell in qualis - 2 whips through to double Arabian, stag jump. Watching her untape alllllllll of that ankle tape. DBF suffers for your artistic sins kittens. 14.566, and my suspicions are confirmed - Rodionova looks like she changed leotards during the competition.

Iordache nails her opening Silivas and tucked full-in with messy legs. Arm flap choreography - I really like this music, but it feels to heavy for her. It's Die Harder 14 with a Vengance, and she's all JLo rom-com. 14.700

Popa Nedelcu (love her leo color! hate the boobalicious widening gold accents!) vaults a dty like a good Romanian expat for 14.800.

Yao Jinnan hits her opening triple full, stag jump beautifully but takes a large step on her 2nd pass. Delightful music - like Iordache should use it next year. I don't care if it features some Chinese instruments - it's wonderful and folky but with a hard guitar edge. Sticks her dismount double tuck pass cold. 13.866, into 3rd behind DBF & Iordache.

Ross takes to the floor needing only 13.857 to top DBF. Hits 1st pass cold, takes a step on tuck full-in with messy legs. The rest of the time, we're all loving her regal dance and even hit the Ferrari leap. One step forward on double pike. Will she have the endurance for the last pass? Stood up and even a step back! Marta is thrilled - guuuud gurlie! TEAMVEGASPINKPOWAH. Yukko Ferrari 14.400 tucked Y1.5. Kyla goes 14.533.

Biles takes to the floor with a vengance. If they're going to give her savage people music, why not give her the awesome Avatar soundtrack? Everyone is happily clapping along as she makes her 6.5 routine look easy. Big hop forward on the tuck full-in. Looks like she has it! TEAMVEGASWIDESHOULDERPINKPOWAH! They wait for the scores and it looks like she has it - the arena loved her - she does it with a 15.233, putting her over 60. Ross 2nd. DBF bronze.

Congrats to Iordache for making me wish for a traditional white Romanian leo. Congrats to Shang Childsong, the best gymnast in the competition who hasn't yet been born. Congrats to Ferrari - sure Carolita can wear a classy leo, but you keep on keepin on with the boob sparkle encrusting and cutouts.
