Dreams of Love
Mao Asada is the champion of Japan for the fifth time.. Finishing second in both segments of the competition, Mao managed to win in honor of her late mother. Good things happen to good people. One really has to admire and respect Mao's resilience. Her heart outshines her immense ability.
Akiko Suzuki won the free skate to finish second overall. This is a triumphant return to Worlds for Ms. Suzuki.
Kanako Murakami continues to struggle with the free program. Her sixth place finish in the free managed to be enough to hang out to the bronze.
Daisuke did it like Chiddy to capture another title despite a sloppy skate. After his loss at the Grand Prix Final, he is allowed.
Takahiko Kozuka finished second.
Japanese Johnny captured the bronze.

boring...
ReplyDeleteMao asada was gourges to watch,it really is amazing how she can skate like that just one week after her mother died, she really is incredible! I can't find words that can describe how thrilled i am with the results cause this podium was actually my dream podium in both segments! can't wait to see them all at 4cc especially Mao!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Daisuke's 96-point short program? In my opinion he didn't even need to skate a long program to win after that masterpiece.
ReplyDeletego mao
ReplyDeleteAJ, how dare you compare Dai-sama to stupid Chiddy? It's a great insult to Dai-sama!!! I tell you, only the Japanese skaters are the best, and all others are trashy~~~ Were it not for the Japanese skaters, there wouldn't be anyone watching the figure skating. BTW, Mao-chan was so great!!! She's got the best artistry among all female skaters, and none can compare. She is so good that she no longer needs technical content, her to-die-for skating skills will cover whatever she may lack in the tech area. I see her as the dominant winner at both 4CC and the World Championship. Heck, she will even beat so-called Russian miracle babies, and be the OGM at Sochi. Julia? Tuk? Sot? They're nothing comparing to the goddess of figure skating, Mao Asada!!!
ReplyDeleteare you kidding me? mao's moves are gorgeous, but her jumps.... look at her in slow motion; she's still pre-rotating every jump. the thing i really don't get- she can do the triple axle, why does she cheat on the second?? its not that she can't reach the height.. is it just pure habit?
ReplyDeleteAt Anon 5:20, you are NOT allowed to criticize Mao like that! She is the best female skater of all time, and I know you can't do half of what she does as a skater. So, what right do you have to judge her? She may pre-rotate her jumps sometimes, but she's the only woman in the world who can jump triple axels in our generation, and she has the superior skating skills to match it too. For me, Mao is the total package, the divine queen of figure skating.
ReplyDeleteA Korean pretending to be a Japanese bot is here... He/she just can't watch compliments on Mao.... You are acting totally childish Anon 9:53.

ReplyDeleteAnon 7:35 is Mao-hater, perhaps a Yunabot him/herself, shame on you.
ReplyDeleteJust get over yourselves. Nobody doesn't even care for Yuna vs Mao rivalry. They're both gorgeous and do have "to-die-for" skating skills and blessed the figure skating world with their own unique artistry.
ReplyDeleteSo much hatred between bots is already so boring.
Anyways, my favorite performance was without a doubt Dai's short. Rest of fields, IMO both men and ladies weren't able to deliver the high expectations they faced.
ReplyDeleteAJ, what's your predictions of Worlds podium of men and ladies? I think Patrick has more edge than Dai when it comes to consistency and ladies' title will be the fight between Carolina and Mao. I don't bother who wins but just wish the winner has clean performances with difficult jumping passages rather than this season's on-going snoozefest-thingy arsenal.
Mao has wonderful qualities in her skating, just need to clean up edges into her jumps and aim for more speed.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't any consistent skaters anymore, so it's no longer a lock for anyone to medal. No one has edge at Worlds, it's basically a free for all with the skater who hits 2 clean programs containing at least 1 quad for the men. For Chan to not medal he has to fall on quads AND on his usual footwork/ serpentine sequence in both programs. Gachinski was gifted with a bronze last year despite not having footwork, choreo, or artistry. That's some powerful Russian lobby there, so I wouldn't count him out of podium this year.
For ladies in general it's harder to quantify, they all are rather uninspiring. Any mid '90- early '00s top ladies would have easy time beating the ladies of today. Yeah now they all can do ugly Biellmann spins with bent supporting leg, but can they do clean 3Lutz or skate with deep edges or how about connecting to the music instead of going through them like routines?
hi AJ, pick your grinch skater of the year: http://dickflutzn.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI hope Mao can win the Olympic gold again. She is the best skater evar.
ReplyDeleteI adored all the Japanese skaters during the Grand Prix. Asada's FS at the NHK was outstanding. Murakami and Suzuki did themselves proud. Hanyu is a rising star. Daisuke was passion on ice.
ReplyDeleteAs for Chan, his skating leaves me completely cold.
@ Audrina Mao's ever won an olympic gold? when did that happen?!
ReplyDelete@Leonora Japanese skaters are truly amazing. IMO if it weren't for them and their country's dedicated efforts for figure skating this sport would have gone through some seriously hard time.
Queen of Japanese skaters, Ando should be back... I pray
ReplyDeleteher comeback every night..
I miss Miki, too.. Her musicality is best of all Japanese
ReplyDeleteskaters except Imai..
