This and That

Mao Asada practices her Triple Axel.  Mao reportedly had a great practice and did many Triple Flip+Triple Loops and Triple Axels.  Watch her landing edge, as she still risks <.  The extra month does look like it has helped Mao return to more of the skater that we know and love.  Kanako Murakami is also in the clip.

Ladies Qualifying Report    Mae-Berenice won qualifying, while Min-Jeong Kwak had a disastrous skate and did not qualify to the short program.

Nastia Liukin will be guest-starring on Hellcats on the CW tonight.  I'd watch it live, but NKOTBSB are on DWTS and I need to see the hot mess that is The Voice.  I hope Ms. Liukin will forgive me for resorting to Hulu.

To make up for it, please sign the petition for Nastia Liukin to be on DWTS in the fall.  Imagine her legs doing a rumba and her bitch face doing the Paso and Tango!!!

The rink in Moscow is apparently too hot to handle.  It seems like Ottavio went for the opposite of causing frostbite at the recent European Championships.

  3. I think she can even risk <<. It's amazing how she doesn't fall on those landings lol. "Super ICE" the Russians put on there must be helping.

  5. I don't really want to see Nastia on DWTS... After all, she already knows how to dance.

  6. Mao should have learned basics. but it is too late.

her jumps aren't consistent. watch her air position.

    no fundamentals.

  7. She is always saying she will correct her jumps before new season.

I think that is a media play.
after puberty it's very hard to correct jumps. that is why we have to focus on basics and fundamentals in early ages.

  10. Russian young girls with good basics will compete with Mao
in Sochi in their own country.
    I wish Mao good luck!!

  14. it's unbelievable she's been able to pull off the 3A for soooo long ICONIC

  15. Am I the only one that thinks it’s below the dignity of an Olympic gold metal winner to sink to the level of reality TV star? I really wish Olympians would stop demeaning themselves by doing dwts.

  16. face it, mao is a fighter, that's what makes her so interesting, i love the underdogs, go mao

  17. Mao looks amazing like always. And some of you stupid Mao fans, don't insult other skaters. Why would you mention othere skaters to praise your favorate skater? I don't get it. It doesn't make you or Mao for that matter look good. Shame on you.

  18. Mao is one of the few ladies to do a classic spiral and perfect beillman she just needs to land everything!

  19. I wouldn't say she's sinking to one level or another, but it sure does reek of desperation to be some sort of celebrity - d list or otherwise. Seems weird to petition for it so long after she won.

    ReplyDelete
  20. she didnt start the petition, a fan did. so i dont think it "reeks of despaeration to be some sort of celebrity."

  21. @Anonymous 5:47PM You should do your research before you post. Like Anonymous 6:10PM said-Liukin didn't start the petition, and she doesn't need to with her agent. Nastia may not be an A-lister but she does get invited to appear in events (and shows) more than enough. There's nothing 'desperate' about it. Liukin has her projects, and seems more than busy and quite happy with herself.

  22. Liukin is such an attention whore. She should have announced she's retired long long time ago. Her stupid fans (including AJ) kept saying she wasn't and would compete in 2012. Where are those people now? Yeah she didn't start the petition for her on DWTS, but she encouraged those few stupid people to do so by kept talking about DWTS and follow it on twitter. Go to colleage and stop trying so desperetly to be a F list celebirty!

  23. AJ, I want to read what you thought of The Voice!

  24. yes, of course i should have known that somehow nastia was behind it. she's been sending out subliminal messages via twitter. did you know shes also secretly controling the economy, that's why unemployment is so high. its also probably her fault you're ugly!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with @5:13, Mao and Yuna fans need to stop bringing up other skaters. They're wonderful enough on their own! Talk about their incredible qualities without bringing up others!

^^ It's impossible for an F list celeb to control the economy, but she sure can wash the brains of a small bunch of her rabid fans. ;)

  27. who washed your brain?^^

  28. I didn't realise Phillipe still skated! (Watching him makes me feel old....)

  29. I think Nastia should do DWTS. Maybe she could lose some weight... finally.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nastia will very likely appear on Dwts next season. all the constants are linked to former contestants and she has two (Shawn and Evan) both of whom did well on the show

    ReplyDelete
  31. shes been linked to the show for ever. every season the nastia rumor pops up on the internet. im of the opinion that if she really wanted to be on the show, it would have happened by now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Mao's first 3a looked UR but the second one looks good. She can't back off in speed at all. To pull that rotation she really needs to go after it. Overall she looks better, a lot more relaxed and at ease. She usually hits on her 3a when it counts, so I'm not too worried. She's had a rough year but she fought and she's slowly but surely gotten better. I really want to see her finish the season strong.

Kanako looks good too. I like her bangs! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I actually think Liukin on the show would be a good thing. Maybe she'll actually learn how to dance and finally put those lines to use instead of flailing about and flicking her wrists.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i tried to open a discussion earlier, but it just degraded into personal insults towards nastia. forget about nastia. am i the only one that thinks dwts is beneathe the dignity of ANY olympian?

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's obviously not beneath their dignity to get paid and DWTS pays well, apparently.

Let's face it, not every athlete gets truckloads of cash delivered from Nike, Wheaties, and Gatorade. Even the Manning brothers had to do those stupid Oreo ads. Sponsorship coin ain't what it used to be.
