  1. Gabby is like the Obama of gymnastics- one historic win and the rest is shit!

    1. Uh, "the rest" for Gabby hasn't even happened yet. Bad analogy.

    2. Ohhhhhhh, I get it. Cause she's black, right?

Now, if you're talking about what's happened in Gabby's career *before* she won AA gold: wow, still a bad analogy! Try a World gold medal. World medals of any kind won by MLR: 0. I happen to think MLR gets a bad rap (I'd like her even more if she hadn't been so bad on beam), but MLR had one sterling year: 1984.

    3. Or it may be the fact that Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize and everything was an uphill struggle from there...

    4. You are like the Rush Limbaugh of this comments section - shit for brains.

    5. actually she has 2 historic wins, while most AA medalists just have one

    1. A very beautiful outfit. Your comment is misleading, it makes it seem that you are completely without style. But I suspect that this may not be true.

    2. Anon @ 12:39: for future reference, in the Aunt Joyce Universe, Nastia Liukin can DO NO WRONG. Even when she dresses like a streetwalker from outer space. Shame on you for daring to question her attention-mongering.

    3. LOL at "streetwalker from outer space". Nastia has appeared to have come into her own in a lot of ways - even if I'm not entirely feeling what she has come into. At least she doesn't have that "Trying Too Hard" look and vibe that she had in previous years.

This outfit? Meh. The top is salvageable, though. The top would be better with something other than gold-medal booty shorts.

    4. oh please, this is the length of shorts I see most girls nastia's age wear, are you puritans? go to any store most shorts are this length unless your in a store for 40+ crowd

    5. Anon at 12:39: another thing you need to be aware of...in Auntie Joyce world, the official storyline is "NASTIA GOOD, SHAWN BAD." Never deviate from that.

Oh, and another thing, smart a-- - the length of the shorts isn't the issue -it's wearing that gaudy outfit anywhere except a nightclub. Gold shorts, hot pink halter top - "HEY EVERYONE, I WEAR HOT PINK LEOTARDS AND I WON A GOLD MEDAL???!!" Kind of a pathetic way to try to steal attention away from Gabby, dontcha think?

  4. Gabby's just made the Kellogg's Corn Flakes box. Her agent is Sheryl Shade, same as Shawn.

  5. Nastia looks BEAUTIFUL and what she is wearing is very trendy right now. If I had those legs I'd wear it too. She may as well flaunt it.

    1. Trendy on what planet? And for what occassion? Everyone else is wearing USA colors because they are at the freaking Olympics not trying out for a role in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

  6. How did Carly get to be the tallest one? And the oldest looking one?

    2. high heels, obviously...

    3. High heels don't explain why she looks 40 years older than Mary Lou.

  7. Mary Lou actually looks very cute there - good for her.

They ALL look great, and congrats to the new AA champion.

  8. Lol @ everyone in US colors except for Nastia in "her" pink and gold. But she does look beautiful.

  10. nice to see gabby win, she's part of a one parent household, wonder if her father will try to get back with her mom, when money comes into play people change, hope this girl keeps the good people around her

    1. It's possible that Gabby's father is getting a bit of an unjustified bad rap. Sure, it's clear that he and Gabby's mom had significant issues - but that doesn't mean he was a lousy, deadbeat father to Gabby and her siblings. I'm not sure where Al Trautwig was coming from when he pretty much scoffed at Gabby's father and his (perceived) motives for being at Olympic Trials during the Trials broadcast: unless Trautwig has information that the public hasn't been privy to, he was out-of-line. (Actually, he was out-of-line either way.)

Why was it attention-whoring to show up to one of the most important moments of your child's life? Are you being a deadbeat dad when you are putting your life on the line in Afghanistan and cannot be physically present for your child at every important turn? Does Gabby's father actually deserve Al's insulting insinuations? If not, what a shame that much of the public's perceptions of Gabby's dad are colored by some idiotic outburst by a mediocre commentator.

And it seems that NBC dropped altogether the "Gabby's Dad: Military Hero" angle. Was her dad mentioned at all during these Olympics?

    2. i think people just see her mother making the sacrifices, she's always there, the way she cries for her daughter, she just seems to really care, we just saw the father for a second, we weren't shown much, he's obviously busy fighting for his country, so you're right, unfair to judge

  11. You know what I find interesting? Many people have been picking apart Gabby when it came to her emotions when she won the All-Around.

While I honestly think she just might've been shocked/overwhelmed and/or interalizing it until she saw her family (I heard she cried a river), I couldn't help but compare her emotions for the Team Gold vs. All Around.

She was obviously quiet in comparison during the All Around, but during the Team Final she was MUCH more hyped up. I mean, did anyone notice how she was jumping up and down when McKayla nailed her vault? And she was screaming alongside her teammates? I honestly think she was much more in the team moment than the All Around...probably because up until now she was NEVER considered a possibility until this Spring.
