USA Podium Training Videos

Interview with Martha Karolyi

Maroney on Team USA and her toe injury.  (The only good interview.)

Team USA: Vault

Team USA: Bars

"Oh, the American girls, they so much bigger.  The shoulders...like men"- Coach Natasha

We will never hear the end of Aly Raisman being Team Captain.  Imagine her monotone team speeches.

Interview with Head Tool: John Geddert

Jordyn Wieber on podium training

Gabby Douglas on being Sheryl Shade's newest mediawhore.  With so many interviews since Nationals, I'm getting a bit over her, oh man.  And just like, awesome, and hyped up and pumped and chill.  Represent Team USA, yo, we're so excited.

  1. I still don't see the "unbeatable" hype around this team. If Russia goes clean, I think they win. I don't think these US girls know what aesthetically pleasing means. That belongs to the Chinese and Russians since it seems these are the only two teams that pay attention to the artistic component of Artistic Gymnastics. This is like a team full of Shawn Johnsons.

    1. lol except that, especially compared to Aly and Jordyn, Shawn's form was always impeccable. She didn't have "balletic" lines, but everything was always neat as a pin.

    2. Who is calling them unbeatable? There is an optimism around them but I have never heard anyone call them unbeatable

And Jordyn has great form. She's not a graceful waif with amazing swing on bars but her form isn't as atrocious as Mustafina or Ponor

    3. not even a fan of team usa this time around, but you can't knock jordyn's form. she doesn't chuck skills she can't do - everything is very well done.

    4. I think Jordyn's a bit labored on bars, and has very little grace on beam...At times her splits well you wonder about it. Her form isn't bad by anymeans though.

In terms of Mustafina; I think other than twisting her form is fine.

    5. So they don't look like ballerinas. SO WHAT. I'd rather look muscular and take home gold, as opposed to being waifish and a headcase. And how "artistic" is it when you fall (or jump off) your events all the time? Geez.

    6. I just wish they would test these girls more rigorously for doping. Like anyone really thinks jordyn got that muscular naturally...

    7. Um, they do get tested. Quite regularly actually. Jordyn has already been tested since she's been there. You should take your doping concerns over to cycling

    8. Get real. Judges don't care about the "artistic" in artistic gymnastics. As long as you go clean and have difficult routines you score high. This is how gymnastics judging works. The Americans are the ones to beat because they have the most difficult and the cleanest gymnastics in the world right now.

    9. Just wait... In 3 days you will realize that judges do care about " artistry". This is a turning point for the sport and they will send a message. I'm a jordyn fan but I'm afraid she'll walk away without any gold. Gabby or the Russians will win. The only gold surely for the us is vault.

    10. I'm a huge Gabby fan, but I'm nervous for her. I can deal with her beam issues, but now she's having trouble landing her Amanars in practice. I'm wondering if the ankle she "tweeked" at Pacific Rim is more of a problem than anyone has admitted to. Maybe the stress of the Karolyi Ranch has caused it some additional problems?

    1. she's so natural ! great personality and that eye make up is hot!

    2. i think kyla is the most natural looking one, mckayla looks a little pinched in the face as tyra banks would say

  3. Was that Marta in the background of Gabby's interview speaking so loudly? lol I couldn't understand, who was Gabby speaking to at the end to "always believe"?

    1. They asked her to say something to Anna Li, who is in Chicago, and she ended her statement by saying, "...always believe in your dreams."

  4. I don't know what you are listening to when Gabby is being interviewed..but she speaks very well (as do the other young ladies)..the word "yo" is not used..stop sterotyping..not cute..anyway I'm over the debates on who is most aesthetically pleasing..bring on the competition!..may the best team win!

  5. I can't believe they are wearing bubble gum pink.

  6. the equipment clashes with the pink so badly. mckayla's vaults have gotten worse all year. i've never seen bent knees and rushed twisting. i hope the hype hasn't gotten the best of her, since she physically seems fine in regards to the toe.

  7. I just love Aly. She is fucking real. I know she is completely monotone, but her attitude is just awesome. She seems very chill.

  8. Maybe it's just me, but Aly looks a lot better (form-wise) on uneven bars than she has in the past. I'm not counting her out of the AA just yet. Douglas has been more consistent of late, but she really does struggle on beam during competition, and it's hard to guess how she'll handle the stress of the Olympics.
