The right team. Naddour should be first alternate and replace Mikulak if his ankle can't hold up. Brooks and Legendre show points of brilliance but have been too consistently inconsistent.
Love the team. Do not understand the alternates. What is the point of having 2 inconsistent muscle daddies. Paul Ruggeri should have gotten the nod over headcase Legendre. Never understood why the men's program loved him so much.
But Paul probably spent the vast majority of his college career getting railed after meets so I'm sure he won't mind getting fucked over by USAG as much as some others.
The five are the team I would have picked, and I think the group has the advantage of being a completely defensible and understandable selection.
Like Britney @ 12:24 p.m., I would have expected Ruggieri to figure more into the mix.
Will Olympic competition rules allow Brooks as an alternate to be within earshot of his compatriots? His "cheerleading" might be worth a few tenths to Team USA.
Brooks is an excellent replacement on HB/PB if Jon or Danny go down. He also makes sense to replace Horton (rings OK as well as HB/PB quite good). His vault and fx are serviceable also if called up.
Legendre makes sense if Dalton goes down because of the FX/vault situation. FX especially.
Naddour is pretty much the Mikulak replacement (pommels).
So actually Brooks is more valuable than you think. He is pretty much the perfect alternate (all except pommels for events and probably on call for 60% of the team. That and his willingness to embrace the role and to tough it through if needed (remember him subbing for the Michigan guy on fx, even when hurt).
Congrats to all of them! Very well deserved (and they're all super hot!)
