The dismount isn't the issue. Nastia looks heavy on beam. Her leaps were short. Very disappointing. I was looking forward to her shutting up the haters. If this is the best she has then she has no shot.
Nastia looks good for seriously training for three months... not so much for being a few weeks away from the Olympics. She can't even put a full bars routine together or do beam with a dismount. She also looks unhealthily skinny, I'm half expecting her body to just collapse on her up there.
I also don't know tat she can't do an amanar. At this point you can only assume people can do what they have shown you. She hasn't shown Olympic readiness yet, not even close. But yes, lets all keep holding our breathes. At this point even if she does hit all her "planned" routines I don't see a spot for her on the team.
I just love the cutthroat competitive vibes Chellsie and her dad are throwing out in that Nastia beam vid. I'm no Nastia hater but suddenly, I'm rooting for Chellsie again.
"One coach in the arena reported to us that Nastia hit beam after her early warmup struggles on her switch half."
ReplyDeleteWith an actual dismount?
Oh come on, it's podium training, you know as well as I do that a lot of these girls don't do actual dismounts.

ReplyDeleteIn the words of that other anonymous, "Oh come on, it's podium training" it probably is not the best she can do.
DeleteNastia looks great. I disagree completely with the previous anon.
ReplyDeleteI love Memmel there watching her...where's the difficulty? What's the B Score without the dismount? It didn't look very high...
ReplyDeleteGo team Memmel!!!!! Floor looked awesome more Chellsie please!
