Ahaha, Ethan Stiefel and his hammy acting. Hammy acting which was not that different from his ballet acting (watched his outrageous expressions in Le Corsaire and The Dream). This movie is such a guilty pleasure. And bonus Ilia! Though if you ask me, I'd prefer Yagudin as a ballet dancer--I think he has the range to pull off different roles.
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this movie! Love it!
Oh my God! This brought back memories! I think I watched this movie at least twice a week as a teenager and this dance was re-enacted in my living room quite regularly by me and my dancing friends. I must admit that watching The Secret Lives of Dancers this year kind of changed my view of Ethan. I'd always had the Center Stage slightly hammy bad-ass in my mind. He came over really wooden and uncomfortable on TSLoD. Thank god Sergio Torrado was there to ogle instead!
