Well Nastia lands her pirouettes correctly Anna's were all Late. plus nastia can also contribute a big beam score where anna can't! However anna's bars were good but i still think Nastia's can be better and could add a good beam score as well
Hey the bitch is not going down with out a fight! I just wish she had not wasted those four years at ucla. She did learn some over processed, stupid thematic floor routines that reminded me of someone with explosive diarrhea trying to hold it in, but this just really destroyed her elite career. I still think she has a shot, but in actuality if she makes it she will have made it despite wasting four years at ucla
Anna was a terrible, forgettable elite with a decent (but rarely seen) bar routine. UCLA actually got her out there competing, training, etc. Martha didn't even know her name before.
Wow people on here have got some real anger issues. The hate that Nastia gets is kinda making me cheer for her. Anyway, Anna isn't going to make the team but I hope she sticks around and tries to make worlds.
How does ANYONE think Anna Li has a shot for the team? News flash, in Tokyo Martha kept Sac on the team when she was 7,000 miles away while Anna, still in Tokyo, was "relegated" to alternate. The team could have used a bar worker, and Anna was right there, but no. Martha doesn't give a rat's ass about Anna. If 2011 Worlds isn't a sign of that, then I don't know what is.
I like Anna, but unless she can contribute on at least one other event, I don't see her making it..on a 6 person team - yes, but not a 5 person team. All of her pirouettes were late in this routine as well, so I'm not sure how high she would score. However, having a 7.0 D score would make her hard to ignore.
I also don't think this means anything for Nastia. An in shape Nastia would be taken over Anna because she can contribute beam, has more of an international reputation, and can hit her pirouettes in handstand. However, I don't see Nastia showing up with a great bar routine. She waited too late to start her comeback. Anna is probably in competition with Bross if anyone.
Anna is great on Bars, but that's it...she's a one event gymnast. With a 5 member team this year, the US can't afford to have someone on the team that can only do one event. And like one of the million "Anonymouses" mentioned above, Anna wasn't used in 2011 even though she flew all the way to Japan and the team lost a gymnast to injury. There's no way in hell she'll make it on this year's Olympic team, especially with new seniors in the running that actually compete multiple event, and compete them well. I don't really see the point of her continuing in the sport other than to delay reality for a few more months.
Look, I actually quite like Anna, but Martha would have to be certifiably insane to take a one event gymnast to London. 5 member teams mean precious little wiggle room for error and Anna simply hasn't proven she can contribute on any other events. Until she does that, she's not making this team.
honestly I don't see Martha taking her no matter how high her D-score goes. Far too sloppy to be used internationally. This won't stack up against Komova/Mustafina/assorted Chinese.
Anna has a ton of deductions in the snippets pasted together in this clip. She has multiple hand placements per pirouette, she is way past handstand on them, and her body line is all over the place. She also has execution deductions in her releases and then the given landing deductions. Even if she had a 7.0 D-score, she is going to rack up at least 1.5-1.8 in E-panel deductions. A 15.3ish bars set is good for the US, but not when you have Ross, Douglas, and even Wieber getting those kinds of scores. And all of those gymnasts have better execution than Anna.
UB is about E-score more than D-score this time around. Anna Li won't be on this team unless there are 2+ injuries among the following: Wieber, Ross, Douglas, Maroney, Raisman... even Sloan, Finnegan, and Bross. I would probably rank the US UB people as the following (high to low): Douglas, Liukin, Ross, Bross, Wieber/Li, Sloan, Finnegan... Sacramone, Raisman. I think Martha would take Bross over Li, but neither of them are going to London so it doesn't matter anyway.
hahahha... I like that you placed Sacramone before Raisman... but Alicia doesnt train bars anymore since 2007, not that it matters... Raisman's bars is for shits!
I hope Nastia does make it, so I really hope she didn't wait until too late to start the comeback. There's no one on the world stage that gives you such beautiful gymnastics, and as someone who likes her athletic skills performed with elegance and beauty e.g. Michelle Kwan, I want Nastia on the team.
Is it just my fervent hoping or does she not look in excellent gymnastics shape in her latest twitter picture? http://t.co/EQbFr8Qf
Nastia looks great, everyone is complaining she's only doing it for money/fame/commercials but I don't see her hocking a book she didn't even write or doing EVEN MORE INTERVIEWS like Shawn http://www.kcci.com/news/sports/What-s-next-for-Shawn-Johnson/-/9357168/13057212/-/nwo7nt/-/
She is working her butt off if she's "only doing it for fame/money" etc. I see her training and working out and she works hard and looks great. The last two years, she has been in and out of the gym. It's not like she sat home on her butt for two years then decided to finally start working out again.
Annia Portuondo Hatch of Cuba competed one event during team finals c. '04 garnering herself silver medals to boot. That's a few seconds of Olympic Glory each.
The major fucking difference is that Hatch wasn't competing against a field like this with so few members on the team. The 5 person limit has fucked up everything.
Looks like trouble for Miss Nastia.

DeleteAnna Li does a lot for someone with terrible genes...tall and thick.

DeleteNastia is so done.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope she proves you wrong, because they aren't going to take Anna Li.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait until Classics, when all of the speculation and rumors will finally have some merit and justification.

ReplyDeletePretty sure Shawn needs money more than Nastia hence the interviews...
