History Lesson: Marcia Frederick

America's first female World Champion, Ms. Marcia Frederick, was kicking it up a notch for Moscow. Marcia was ready to take on Maxi and give her some bitch face.

Marcia may not have been open about her boyfriends, but take note of her closeness with assistant coach Rich Carlson :) Oh man, training bars was so the way to find love in the late '70s. Here, why don't you spot my new tkatchev?! Unfortunately, President Carter boycotted for bullshit reasons, but it didn't keep Marcia from upgrading.

20/20 did a feature on Muriel and Marcia in 1979. Check out Rich Carlson in short shorts!

  1. Wow, what a crazy interview! I guess this was before media training, because you never hear anything but a bunch of robotic garbage from the gymnasts today. I always find it incredibly sad that despite having the honor of being the first American world champion, very few people know her name. She had that killer instinct, and I think it's possible that she could have sneaked in for a medal at Moscow. Why and when did she end up retiring? Will be interesting to see and hear from the Moscow 1980 team when they are honored at Visa Champs in a few weeks.

  3. Okay, code experts. In the video for the USGF Intl, she looks to have done a toe-on tkatchev at :10. Is that right? If she did the toe-on tkatchev, how come it isn't attributed to her in the COP (wasn't it named after Elise Ray?). And at :23, she does some kind of 1 1/2 twist from a back stalder. Does you know what that would be worth today? Sad that this routine is almost more interesting than routines today.

  4. I think that a move can only be submitted at a Worlds or Olympic games. I never realized that Marcia had a toe on reverse hecht. Impressive!

  5. I looked it up cause I was curious too- a long swing with a 1 1/2 turn is a C

I looked in my USA Code and the toe on reverse hecht is called a Ray. I think in order to be named it had to be done at a USA Nationals (for the USA code) or world/olympics.

  6. The problem with the series is that it was run through editors of the ILLUMINATY before publishing. Thus there are many untruths. Jeremy is a creation of the illuminati and would not exist without them. A homonculas if you will. He is kept under the radar for fear that the public will see through their plans. HE IS NOT REAL. I have not yet understood just why they created him but it all has to do with the TRUE johnny weir undisclosed. This is Tara's duly on Earth.

  8. that stalder 3/2 turn is not even in the code any more. If I had to guess. it would likely be a d or a c. The toe shoot tkatchev was not named after marsh because she never did it in an international competition that would count {worlds, olympics, world cup}. It is a shame. She really technicaly still has one of the best stalders around.

  9. No Annonymous, I am exactly where I must be. SPREADING THE TRUTH about the illuminaty's plans. By conventional means they would find me and stop me. Many people are homumculi you must be aware at all times!

  13. Love, love, love her bars....don't know what it would be worth today - anyone know?? To me, this is what gymnastics should look like.

  14. Her bar routine can't be assessed by today's code because the bars are much farther apart. The moves just aren't done anymore. There are no more belly beats, etc.

  15. At my gym when people did toe-on tkatchevs we always called them Fredericks. Was that never the official name? Or did they change it? Because that was several years ago.
