This and That

Ms. Kwan is featured in sports illustrated and is as fierce as ever:

Bridgey Caquatto discusses doing bars at Nationals and her NCAA plans with gymnastike. She is utterly adorable.

PJ Kwong caught up with Josee Chouinard, Patrick Chan and Dube and Davison.

Plushenko will not file an appeal over his ineligibility. The King is dead!

  1. i cant help it. I always hated Michelle Kwan. When she lost the olympic gold medal twice, I really did feel bad. However, when I read about how she felt she deserved gold, and was actually planning on it with her fields of gold program, I almost pissed myself. The fact that the gold was hers and she got beat by two of the most dull unrefined skaters the world has ever seen! Michelle won a silver and a bronze, she won tons of national championships, she won world championships many times. She still was a two time loser at the olympics. I think this is a riot.

  2. Huh? When did she state she deserved the OGM? Never heard of that before. Besides, you really can't deny she did deserve that gold both times. IMO.

  4. Love Michelle, but is SI for real using that photo? She looks 1/20 o a inch away from a very embarrassing wardrobe malfunction! Maybe she is trying out for the Swinsuit Edition next year?

  5. Whatever you guys, Michelle is freaking amazing and still draws attention/admiration/3-page SI spreads years after stepping foot on competitive ice. She is the HBIC, 4eva.

  6. Does this mean Mackenzie isn't trying for the World team this year? I thought she was deferring college a bit to try and make the team?

  7. Where in this post did it say that Mackenzie was doing otherwise? Yes Macko is going to make a push for the World team and go to UF dec 26 for the spring sem

  8. From the video, Bridgitte made it sound like Mackenzie was leaving a lot sooner, so I was unsure if she had changed her original plans.

  9. Well I think you must have read too much into what she was saying.

  10. First of all most athletes at that elite Olympic level must have a lot of confidence in themselves and at least project that to the public even if they have doubts over whether they'll win. Sarah Hughes herself even before the Nationals was shown on camera saying she was confident she could beat anyone including Michelle if she skated her best. You're blowing it out of proportion. She wasn't arrogantly running around making snide comments about her competition.

Your comment that she was so sure of her win she chose to skate to "Fields of gold" for exhibition is simply bullshit that has been dragged around for ages. She was already skating to that exhibition program a year before the Olympic year/season (2002) anyway. Why would she be so sure of a win when she skated cleanly in 1998 yet still ended up with silver?

  11. Also you made it sound as if she felt she deserved the Gold in 2002 after the fact, talk about BULL, she knew the fall doomed her, period. Sounds like you made up a distorted little version of the truth in your head and "peed yourself" after thinking of your colorful fabrication. 2-time loser, boo hoo, too bad Michelle Kwan is one of the most popular figure skaters and female athletes of all time and Tara and Sarah aren't. Too bad Michelle is the only figure skater to consistently make the list of top 10 most popular female athletes years after she quit. Tara and Sarah sure didn't. Michelle even made the top 10 of most popular athletes period (male or female) in 2003. Who had high rated TV specials? In the 90's even the figure skating nationals had great ratings because Michelle was in them.

  12. Bad styling choice in that SI bit. Dig the t-bars but that dress is an inch away from a wardrobe malfunction.

  13. It's Kwans world and all of us are just living in it. Michelle NEVER said she deserved gold but I can make a case she was robbed twice.

  14. how can you say she was robbed twice? I like michelle and it is just bizzare that she was the overwhelming favorite twice......... and yet she was beat both times by someone {who IMHO sucked and was dull } that picked that moment to have the best skate of their lives. Michelle did not really lose the gold as much as she won the silver........in 98. Granted 2002........well lets not talk about that. I like michelle, I think her popularity went up after not winning the gold twice.

  15. Love me some MK but I have to say that pose in the red dress really shows her lack of flexibility. I can pose like that and am very inflexible. Her back is unable to arch much.

  16. I love the picture of Michelle--she looks fabulous! Michelle never said she "deserved" gold. She is the epitome of good sportsmanship--never gloating over her many wins or pouting over her disappointments.

  17. there are other ways she could've shown more flexibility, but as she's wearing a normal dress and not a skating dress I'm pretty sure they didn't want a panty shot where her skirt's riding high on her hips...
    it's just a theatrical pose
