A reversal of politics across the board.  This is not Canada's event.

The next great American ladies champion...

Payback

A boy who needs a consistent quad in both programs.  If he earned more prize money, Jeremy wouldn't need to resort to dying his hair with left over sun-in from Y2K.

  1. So so happy that this World Trophy event turned into Vindication 2012. Could not be more excited about Marlie and Takahashi!

  2. Why is Adam Rippon labeled with "the next great American ladies champion...?"

  3. It is a reference to how male American skaters who struggled with triple axels were referred to in the skating world during the '90s. It has never been his jump and he is certainly a Paul Wylie-type skater. Paul was known as one of the great 'ladies skaters' of his time. I know AJ is a big Adam fan. If only Adam could do a great triple axel!

  4. Ladies program = Double Axel through Triple Lutz (aside from Ito, Asada, Harding)

  5. It was beautiful seeing the skaters from US, Italy and France cheering for Takahashi in the kiss and cry. THEY know.

I haven't watched the WTT before but I'm really enjoying it, its great to see the skaters being able to perform before a large, enthusiastic crowd, and the kiss and cry scenes are a blast in the countries that are having fun with it - although it really pretty damn funny on Friday watching poor Scott Moir having to suffer through pretending like he was having fun.

Scott may be a jerk but I really think Voir and Marlie are both just superb and hate to see either team lose

As many mistakes as Kozuka had, for the first time it really hit home for me what a lovely lyrical skater he is. IMHO it did no favors for Adam to have to follow him.

  6. Scott shouldn't have said that.

  7. Congrats to the winners. The competition that really counts though is the World Championships!

  8. Anon 11:08 - though not pictured, I've read that the Russians were applauding, too. I think that's Elena Ilinykh on the stairs in the picture, and she seems pleased.

The WTT was so much fun! A pity that France couldn't hang on for that bronze, they deserve it for their fantastic K&C showing.

  9. Only Japs takes this event seriously.
Their heroine, Narumi TAKAHASHI could be an olympic champion. To Jap's eyes, Narumi TAKAHASHI is better than 4-time world champion Aliona Savchenko.

  10. Japanese hero, Daisuke's world record was ratified in this stupid event. Moir was absolutely right "I really hate this event"

Athletes from Other countries were being used to japan's purpose, their hero's world record. The result is already fixed like japanese nationals.

Their heroine,Mao Asada's record was ratified in 2009 Team Trophy event.

What's funny about WTT is that ,in 2009 WTT, Only in discipline of ladies skating, the record can be ratified.
Other disciplines were not ratified as a record. For what?

  12. I'm wondering if these latest comments are coming from Russians, Canadians or Yu Na ubers who are still trying to keep that whole poison-fest alive.

    Yeah,

Akiko is the best skater in the world. still better than Katarina Witt, only to jap's eyes.

  14. Anon 07:34, yuna's lovely fans, of course.

Canadians are too PC for something like that, Russians don't use 'J.ps' as a derogatory term when they want to offend.

WTT is a golden goose for them.

I love Scott's honesty. Nobody wants to be used as means to other's advantage. They are very tired after half year's competitions.

He is gutsy to tell the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Japanese skaters never tell the truth.. It's their culture.

This event, in the kiss&cry, I only see fake happiness. that kinds of mood fit Japanese culture. always make fake smile like their traditional mask.

But, Figure Skating is individual sports unlike Japanese culture.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dai is Flutzer. but judges give +GOE on his flutz.

He is overrated too much. Japan's money makes it possible. Nobody talks about that.

If he is from other countries, he would never be in his position, now. his flutz could not have been passed by Tech.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Shen and Zhao and Yuna invite Japanese skaters to their shows, and they skate in Japan - wonder how the korean/chinese haters wrap their heads around that

The skaters let go of their hate - their fans should follow suit. That kind of hatred will eat you up from the inside.

And for the record, yes, even 70-something years after the fact, the Japanese govt. should apologize for atrocities against their neighbors in the 30's and 40's - just like German governments have apologized for the Nazis.

As for Scott - anyone who applauds his "honesty" for publicly dissing his hosts is even more classless than he is.

And for the record, anyone who harps on Takahashi being 'gifted' while remaining blind to the past couple of years in regards to Chan is clearly certifiable.

That said, watching Chan's Buttle-choreographed EX at the WTT, was the first time I enjoyed his skating. Too bad the Canadian skating fed didn't prop up Buttle a few years back like they have Chan.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have to wonder if V/M had won at the WTT, would there be so many comments of "this event is meaningless; the only event that counts is Worlds".

    ReplyDelete
  29. I can't tell the difference Dai's lutz from flip, while Chan has exact edges on lutz.

If judges catch his flutz, he never had been on Worlds podium. Money helps.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Even Gracie Gold got a better lutz than Dai. She got an exact edge. Shame on him.

  31. Have you ever read what AJ usually writes about GG? You should ;)
Have you seen the poll results below?

  32. It is a piss off…he hates this event, score them low one more time judges and he will skate over and kick your collective asses together. This ain't over yet. Team Canada just showed that they are so obnoxious that they can't even stand each other. Besides, the Canadian federation was probably trying to save money for next year's medal buying budget.
