This and That

Nastia Liukin is in London for Britain Bound.  This is a brief respite for the Olympic Champion who has been spending time in the gym and is looking thinner every time we see her.  The true test of her comeback potential will come at the upcoming Skating and Gymnastics Show, which she has been preparing for.  The weave is gone and there has been a noticeable weight loss.  Things are starting to look possible, but she will have to work her ass off. Literally.  Like many of us, Nastia puts on weight in her face and her chin.  There is a visible difference since Nationals.  I must say the just like with Sasha Cohen, I like Nastia better when she's thinner.

Dorothy Hamill is dealing with another business-related lawsuit.  Every time Dorothy gets in business with one of her husbands, problems arise. (Love, the Ice Capades.)  It isn't clear what the real story is here, but Dorothy has worked hard over the last few years to get her career and her life in order.  I wouldn't mess with American's Sweetheart.  Like the contestants at Miss Universe, she knows how to turn on her charm and charisma when she needs to.  She also knows how to get away with charging outrageous prices for a weekend adult skating camp.

An interview with Nikolai Morozov about coaching Ilinykh and Katsalapov and Alena Leonova.  He is keeping a level of secrecy and the highly-promoted-eye-candy.  Perhaps their twizzles are being kept under lock and key as well?  Notice that even the interviewer notes how grotesque Leonova is.

An interview with Maxim Stavisky about the state of Russian Ice Dance after the test event.  He makes it clear that Riazanova and Tkachenko are the only team that impressed him.  Maxim is NOT amused.

Universal Sports is changing its model and hoping to reach more audiences.  It looks like we may have to pay for it.  We'll need to follow what this means for us with the Olympics looming, but the Grand Prix shouldn't be impacted by the current business deals.

  1. Put the bitch in a leotard and let's see how thin she is. No one will believe she is training until either 1) a video shows up or 2) she miraculously appears at 2012 Nationals with a bar routine. Your "updates" about her "training" are about as informative as reading a twitter feed.

  2. And the first troll emerges. She'll be in a leotard in October.

  3. Nastia looks thinner and happier. I may need to pay attention to the Skating/Gymn piece of shit this year. Ugh.

  4. I'm DONE with Universal Sports if they make me pay for it. Screw them. I can watch the Figure Skating Grand Prix for free on a RUSSIAN feed. How sad is it that the US doesn't even want to give us free coverage of our top Olympic sports? Screw them if they put Universal Sports in some $$ sports package.

I think the fact that Nastia is sightseeing around Britain right now for one of her sponsors is all we need to know about her current seriousness in regards to training. I doubt she has the time in her schedule to train, and maybe not even the discipline after being used to her current lifestyle of constant travel, fine dining, etc.

However, I don't doubt that she has been in the gym to get ready a bit for that skating and gymnastics show.

  5. unfortunately Russian ice dance is turning into Chinese ice dance LOL. No medals for the forseeable futre at worlds and none at Sochi is like a guarantee.

  6. I agree with Anon at 12:09. Considering it's less than a year to the Olympics, this would not be in the schedule if she was serious about making the team. I think she's DONE.

  7. Nastia will be at the upcoming camp. I don't think she would've gone to a two-week bootcamp to do the skating/gymnastics show and tour. It is possible that she can't get out of some commitments. If she did work out at the last camp, she may be up to something. There is time, but she needs to book it and stop traveling.

  8. It's hard to know what's going on with Nastia b/c she's so much more secretive than someone like Shawn Johnson, so who knows what she's been doing. But if Macko is our "bars specialist," the US may have to find a way to legally force her to train for London.

  9. What the fuck is she doing on the selection committee if she is making a comeback? For that matter what the fuck is some know nothing bimbo like that on the selection comittee anyhow? The other two members know a lot more than her. And there are some damned smart ex gymnasts who've graduated from college and the like. Plus the WOGA conflict in selections.

  10. I still say all the prancing around of Nastia is just to keep WOGA in the limelight until the next wonder comes out of there..athletes are flocking to WOGA daily..Valeri is a smart business man...it is a small world here in Texas..why she sits next to Martha on the the selection bench..

  11. Lol she's not dressing better. There's no art to wearing leggings and a track jacket (which look good on her). But notice once she goes back to other clothing it's still a trainwreck.

  12. To be fair, Dave has been a Nastia fanatic for quite some time. His intimate connection to her now is probably only for publicity, like most of Nastia's life. The rubber will meet the road come spring... and it will be beautiful to watch unfold.

  13. No Dave has not always been a Nastia fanatic. He used to call her out. Now all he cares about is befriending her. I can confirm she makes fun of him behind his back. I have heard her do it.

She knows she has to be nice to certain people so they say nice things about her. Boy is it working. Aunt Joyce is a sell out and he obviously lacks brain cells.

  14. Interesting claim... and I wouldn't be surprised. It's not like Nastia has anything else going for her right now.
