Countries earned spots based on last year's Worlds results. For instance, the Japanese men earned 2 spots instead of 3 because Oda did awful last year... So the skater with the lowest World ranking out of the 3 (in this case, it was Kozuka) has to skate in the Prelim round.
I forget (or never really understood)... Who needs to compete in the preliminary rounds at ISU championship events?

ReplyDeleteTo clarify, when I say "spots", I'm referring to automatic spots into the Short Program... Everyone else must skate in the Prelim round.

ReplyDeleteDai is IMHO one of the best skaters of all time, it makes me sad that he has to worry about the quad...his other abilities should be enough.
