This looks a lot better than last year. I think the country theme kind of helps contain the cheesiness. These things are always such a tacky free for all, maybe they should always pick a theme.
I actually liked the gymnastics group number and the line dance in the closing with the skaters in front of the gymnasts.
Actually, can I take that back? The skating portion is okay, but the painfully watered down gymnastics kills me. What the hell was the gymnast number? McCool only did a sheep jump? They all did some random slow dancing? I think half the audience there could have done that number.
I was at this show - and the review AJ posted was accurate, Evan was REALLY on last night. He and Meryl and Charlie were the highlights of the night! I enjoyed the show - because not all of us can afford to drop everything and fly to LA.
And ps, ATS LA was also cheesy as hell. They ARE skating shows, after all, and that's why I love them.
Not a bad show. Skating makes for good shows, but gymnastics isn't really a "show" kind of sport. I have no reason to watch a half-assed beam routine to music. The male gymnasts are usually better in shows.

Meryl and Charlie were beautiful.
Queen Nastia indeed.
I can't even force myself to watch this after spending the weekend watching ATS LA videos.
ReplyDeleteNothing this week will look as good as All That Skate-LA, but this doesn't look that awful actually.

ReplyDeleteThank god for Horton who is ready for Worlds and able to at least throw some tricks while the other gymnasts pranced around.
ReplyDelete"Show gymnast" thing just doesn't work unless you're an east european rhythmic gymnast.

Saying "Evan Lysacek, Olympic Gold Medalist" STILL hurts me.
