Our take on the 2013 Challenge Cup.

*Note, I have not been feeling well and apologize for how off I look in today's video.

  1. You guys always do such a great job with these, thank you!

  2. A question for Dave: Why would you deduct skaters in transitons for a stopping intermezzo? Whether she/a skater stops or not, the rest of their transitions remain the same, don't they?

  3. I went to this event and it was not as empty as it looks! The cameras were pointed towards the empty, cordoned-off "business seats" whereas the audience were all behind the judges/camera. Not a big event, but certainly not as dead as the videos make it seem!

  4. This was really nice podcast. Nice and manageable length.

  5. The "stopping" is an important part of the choreography. Lori clearly had Bejart in mind when she choreographed this--note the arm movements in the "stopping" section. That said, I'm still not feeling the love for Carolina. This Bolero program is fairly empty--I think the monotony of the music emphasizes it-- and she still telegraphs her jumps. Yes, she has a few wiggles here and there, but I'm not swooning over it. I think it's a good program that will score well if skated clean. Do I think it can beat Yu Na? No.

  6. Despite the mistakes, Alexander should've won this by the strentgh of the PCS. His PCS shoudl've been higher when in comparison to what Joubert put out there or Joubert's are simply too high.. Anyway, GREAT competition for Alex to build for next year

  7. I don't mind the "posing" unless it is as Witt-esque with Carmen!
I had to agree with Dick on that one.

  8. Don't like too much stopping and posing in place. Reminds me of Morosov's choreography.
I am the eye commentator and wasn't gonna comment since ya said some comments were mean, but this time the eyes didn't look as noticeable and you could hardly tell you were sick. P.S. Not every less than favorable comment is meant to be taken as being nasty. Sounds like maybe you had a cold. Hope ya feel better.

  9. You made several good points there. I did a search on the issue and found nearly all people will have the same opinion with your blog.
