this lady is so gross, she's just going to attract some real creeps now wanting to be 1st, ewwwww
Why did she think we wanted to know this?
Personally, I could leave or take Lolo's grand admission - she is not necessarily a hero to me personally - but I do wonder why people have so much of a problem with her sharing this, when Tim Tebow didn't get anywhere near this backlash. And there are probably other examples of declared virgins that I would know if I paid close attention to pop culture - people who also weren't ridiculed for it like Lolo has been.I wonder what people's reaction would have been if Michael Phelps had talked publicly about his being a virgin? Or Hope Solo or Abby Wambach?
It isn't what she said as much as how she said it. Lolo comes across a bit off.
nothing wrong with saving yourself but she's almost 30, she kind of missed out on life
i think it's sad, she just wanted a family cuz she didn't have parents that stayed together. now she's alone because no guy was man enough to marry her.
most guys don't marry these days they just play the field
Anon - that excuse just smacks of someone grasping at straws to "justify" an irrational response to Lolo's declaration. She seems "off"? How, exactly? I think if she had the exact same inflections/mannerisms/speech patterns - and she was talking about something that the haters deemed more acceptable/less threatening - you wouldn't be claiming that she seemed "off". I guess Lolo should have aspired to be a "ho" or a "babymama" - morally hypocritical Americans would be more comfortable with those stereotypes. You know - only a few years ago, I heard that a certain well-known retired American gymnast - who is some years older than Lolo - was a proud virgin. Perhaps she is witnessing the skewering that Lolo is getting for her virginity and is relieved that she hasn't been more publicly talkative about her own. (I have no idea if that info would still be accurate - but I have reason to believe that what I heard was true then.)
Sorry - the "Anon" I'm referencing in the above post is the June 2, 2012 3:19 PM one.
Good for her! I don't understand how anyone can ridicule this. She made a perfectly reasonable and responsible decision that works for her, and she has every right to choose when she shares that part of herself. Missing out on life? Depends very much on what you want out of life, and what you hope to gain later.
Nothing says chasity like constantly talking about the sex you're not having
In remaining a virgin until marriage, Lolo is being obedient to God's commands. The reporter is visibly uncomfortable. As are the mockers. Here's why:Jesus said, “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed. But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.” John 3:19-21What unrepentant sinner likes being reminded of the standards of a holy God? Astounding commitment, Lolo! Let the world mock you. It mocked Jesus first. Way to follow Him. You're an inspiration. As for anybody embittered by Lolo's example, it's not too late to turn it around. See the good news for you contained in the verses that just happen to precede those above - John 3:16-18.
I think it is uncomfortable given the nature of the interview. She is an athlete preparing for the Olympic Games, not a guest on the Oprah show.
no man is worth that much of a wait, she waited this long and didn't find anyone good
I bet she still sucks cock
Wonder if she does anal.
