  1. Should have sent Jeremy Abbott.

  2. Patrick Chan could skate circles and still earn 10's for components. I hope he at least skates well tomorrow -- if he's going to win by 40 points, I want him to skate better than everyone else.

Don't get Takahashi's levels. Haven't re-watched yet, but Patrick Chan isn't 13 points (in the SHORT PROGRAM) better than Takahashi and Oda.

I hope the Canadian judge who gave him those ridiculous components marks is reprimanded. I mean, he's good, but that is just absurd.

  3. Chan WAS 13 points better than Taka. Quad-Triple vs Triple-Triple(should've been <)&3A(this should've been < too). Taka is lucky with those marks.

  4. I mean, I definitely agree he was best, but 13 points in the short program is an enormous deficit. Like, unreal. If you recall, Yu-na had a 7 point lead over Mao after the short in the Vancouver and that was considered enormous. I don't see the under-rotations in the video, personally, nor do I understand a universe where Daisuke scores lower on performance than Patrick Chan.

Patrick Chan should have the lead, but 13 points is basically telling the other skaters they're wasting their time showing up.

  5. Lindsay,
There is no Canadian Judge on the panel. Keep making up stuff though, eventually you will get one right.

  6. didn't watch most of the programs, since none of the top guys quite do it for me (oda is intriguing on occasion and brian joubert when he's shirtless), but i'm surprised by the placement of the midwestern-esque americans: their programs would have qualified them to the final group in past quadrenniums, which tells me that a bunch of dudes jumped the hell out of moscow with exponential flailing about nonsense. emphasis on the racehorse analogy with fins (doesn't seem like any of 'em necessarily melted the ice with their sex appeal). btw, i knew bradley's nationalistic and slightly pompous sp would not win over the international judges (their collective translated reaction: "i don't get it. ww2 is so last season.") too bad he didn't go for the triple toe, he's got the nicest ass of the competition. why the us didn't send jeremy with his new do and intricate lp still mystifies me, as if the west is democratic and just. i'll watch the vids come sundown, when i'm properly aroused.

  7. I'm really proud of our American guys. They skated really well--so far they've done all we could have asked of them.

  8. Yuna had less than 5 point lead in Vancouver.
Since I'm not a big fan of Takahashi's performances (just not my type... the hair the costume the music.) I can't really defend him in that regard either lol Anyways, the jumps did look UR to me (especially 3A).

  9. asians lead: it's a conspiracy! well, not really. they're just really compact in the air. and fast. really fast. and numerous. patrick isn't really asian anymore, but will do until the soviet korean improves.

  10. lol I heard Kim Jung Il is a huge figure skating fan. Did you see that North Korean guy from Vancouver? He was pretty good actually lol

  11. If Plushenko rated a 91, then Chan absolutely deserves higher. (I know, I know, not the same judges or competition.) Not only were Chan's jumps textbook, but his transitions, spins, footwork and skating skills are much, much better than Plushy's. Of course we could debate forever who deserves what, but for me the bottom line is that Chan's SP was practically perfect and he completely deserves to be in the lead.

What's the point difference in the COP between a quad-triple and triple-triple? Quad toe alone is worth more than 10, right?

  12. Chan is so unfortunate looking. It's distracting.

  13. Has Chan had eyelid surgery? I realize his skating is textbook, but he leaves me cold.

  14. It's not Chan's fault that his lead is almost 13 pts. People can be very stupid sometimes. Why can't you take the fact that Taka and Nobu did not perform very well? How about blame it to them? The judges just cannot hold Chan's score down because his competitors did not bring it.

    That's what I'm saying!!

  16. The American men did better than I expected.

I hope the judges of the Mens at Nationals and the panel that picked this trio to represent us are proud of themselves.

Any sane person would have chosen a team consisting of 1 or more of our men that medaled this year at at a GP event, or 4CC. Or at least the man that medaled at all of his GP events, and at 4CC.

  17. The U.S. men seem to have done well so far. I hope they can pull up in the rankings in the LP.

  18. Daisuke Takahashi : his triple Lutz(wrong edge) = Flutz

  19. Not only do I miss Abbott but also cute Adam Rippon with his raised-arm jumps.

Never mind Chan's unfortunate looks, his team mate Kevin Reynolds is a joke! Just caught his LP, which was as messy as his stupid hairdo.

  20. Ryan Bradley skates so straight-legged, I am amazed he nails all the jumps. I have seen more animation in a block of wood.

  21. I don't know what TPTB were thinking when they made their WT decision for the men right after Nationals. It's not like those spots are all that easy to get back once they're gone, especially in singles. Is it wise to so blithely toss away a third spot when interest in skating is already low anyway, and especially when it was that third spot that got Evan to Worlds in 2009, which he ended up winning?

  22. Bradley was held up to win Nationals. Who has what to gain? It just reeks of a set up to give Bradley a title to make him more valuable as a pro skater. With his past record and poor skills- he had no chance at a top 10 finish.
