What The Skating World Is Missing...

It just isn't the same.  Hurry back!

The skating world is desperately missing Virtue and Moir and Yu-Na Kim.  Without them, things are just depressing.  Rivalries make things exciting and we can only hope that 2011 Worlds will be Marlie vs. Voir and Yu-Na vs. Mao.  This season is giving me the Post-Olympic Blues.  We need rivalries where we know that no matter who wins, they are certainly deserving skaters.

Oh how I long for the days of being on the edge of my seat having mini strokes when Yu-Na or Michelle miss a jump in practice!

  1. There won't be any rivalry at Worlds for ladies. Mao isn't going to make the team and even if she does, she'll probably be at least 60 points behind Yuna.

  2. Mao will have much more time under her belt training under Sato. She will be much better off than she is now. I expect that Mao will be named to the team and they'd only replace her if she really wasn't ready.

  4. Hasn't the JSF come out and said that Mao isn't going to be named to the world team unless she medals at nationals? I'm not sure what her chances of improving enough to be one of the top three ladies in Japan by the end of this month.

  5. The JSF has never had any issues with corruption or blatant cheating.

  6. Tessa and Scott need to come back. They represent everything that is good and beautiful in this world. Goodness knows I need something to smile about these days. Or just a shot of something strong.

  7. Rivalries? Ah, don't be sad, we still have PChan for that kind of 'rivalry' in figure skating, do we not?

  9. I miss them.
    They are true champion.
I want to see an amazing program.
    If anything they'll surprise.
To their health, and earnestly hope to be happy.

Looking forward to next World Championship.
    Let memories of past Olympics.

  10. You're crazy if you think that Mao will be a rival for Yuna by March. I'm still quite sure she isn't going to make the world team. She'll probably be in 7th or something after the short at Nats. If she just gave up on the 3a then she might be able to make it but since she isn't doing that, she's screwed.

  11. As known not only by brain but by heart, Queen Yuna has already marked the legendary footage. There is no more rivalry for her. All we can do is just enjoy any moment she would provide performances on the ice for us as gift in the near future.

  12. Even if Yu-na was competing, there would be no rivialy. The pressure of competing against a rival would cause Mao to only skate worse. Yu-na would run away with every title by 30 points, no exactly exciting. As for Voir, I share your withdrawal. I re-watched their Mahler yesterday...what perfection.

You seem to pretend to be yuna-fan.

And I think Mao is going to any way make the world team.

  14. I am not a Yuna fan and I am a Mao fan. I just don't think she is going to make the world team. She is clearly not ready yet and Japanese nationals isn't that far away.

  15. Love Mao, but there is no way she'll be ready by the end of the month. Still, it's a tough as to whether Japan will send her. On the one hand, she is reigning World champion, the Olympic silver medalist, and the only person who has been competitive with Yuna. On the other hand, the Japanese ladies are doing well without her and it wouldn't be in Japan's best interest to give her a spot when there are others who have already been competitive internationally.

Fingers crossed she surprises us all at Nationals so we don't have to worry about this.

  16. As we saw Olympics, no one beat Yuna. She's just skating godness.

Voir need to come back at Nat! I really miss them.

  17. Actually, Mao seems to always do better when she's competing against Yuna. She usually isn't as good as Yuna, but she's a lot more fiesty when Yuna's around.

  18. I do remember Mao beating Yu-Na at Worlds, even with Yu-Na's overscored free skate. Both are amazing skaters when at their best.

Very well said. I can't agree with you more:)

  20. MAO's overscored PCS always kill me but i'm not afraid it anymore. Unreasonable pcs victory like 2008 worlds'll not happen again cos we know YUNA is in her own league.
