  2. I wonder how much Sinapore paid her to go all the way there to do a Charlotte spiral and a half-assed scratch spin.

Indeed, Pot calling the kettle black.
Maybe you're not anon but your profile is unavailable... Who's the lazy b...?

Well, clearly, you (and me). He took the effort not just to create a profile but also set it as private. Duh.

  5. Isn't Abraham always calling anons out anyway? Lol, embarrassing. Boy, get off your high-horse. There's no point in putting your name on it when you're just as anonymous as the rest of us.

Didn't care for the ex choreographically but I liked her dress. I think she could have better used the rink with a MITF but she does a stag jump and a butterfly ... *shrug*

  6. I'm so sorry that I had a typo and forgot the "g" in Singapore. I'm sure you've never had an online typo ever. If your name was Anonymous or Abraham, it wouldn't make a difference to me. I can sign my name Suzy, but does that make me any less anonymous? Geez. As for Michelle, maybe the ice just sucks and she couldn't do anything on it, who knows. It's just odd to have her go all the way there and then not really skate any elements- not even a real combination spin or anything.

    Kwan does it for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  8. I thought it was very uninspiring. Shrugs too.

Anyway, when it comes to Dave, Michelle Kwan can do no wrong. LOL.

  9. I love Michelle, but she couldn't throw in one jump or a combo spin?

  10. Disappointing to say the least. Yes, it's 'just' an exhibition but one would expect so much more substance from a Michelle Kwan. The program is basically empty except for the half-hearted scratch spin and Charlotte. Perhaps she's just not in good shape (enough at least for an exhibition), or she was suffering jet lag. Perhaps I'm just making up excuses for her. :/

  11. The rink is made of artificial ice and so I imagine it must be quite difficult to do spins on. Jumping must be even harder since the artificial ice does not provide the "grip" that natural ice does. I hear that skates need to be resharpened after just a few sessions on artificial ice, since it dulls down the blades a lot.

  12. I don't think any skater is able to skate their best on synthetic ice, including Michelle. Maybe all the Anonymouses can give Michelle lessons on that.

  13. Thank you Xerox.. exactly my point.. All these "anonymous" people.. My shit may be private but at least when you respond to me, you can respond to me using my name..

  14. Synthetic ice? Didn't they use synthetic/artificial ice to make the "practice arena" at Worlds in LA in 2009? They built the ice on top of a cement floor in a convention center. Yet all the skaters were able to jump and spin on it, and practice their programs.

    Or is this different?

  15. I dunno about the ice, but that rink looks incredibly small.

  16. Synthetic ice isn't even ice. It's horrible for blades.

  17. Don't mistake artificial ice for synthetic ice. Artificial ice is actually made of water. Synthetic ice is made up of something--plastic? teflon?--which isn't water. Skating on synthetic ice is nothing like skating on actual ice. I don't think it's possible to go anywhere as fast on synthetic ice as it is on the real thing.

  18. Michelle is basically skating on very slippery tiles.

  19. Wow, why not just use artificial ice then? Strange.

  20. The people complaining about MK's performance obviously have never skated on synthetic ice before. It is AWFUL and I can't believe she even managed to look that good on it. Money aside, I don't quite get why she did this. I wonder if she didn't know it would be synthetic until she agreed?

There is no way, in any universe, that elite figure skaters would be expected to practice on a synthetic rink for Worlds....it is totally, totally different from ice. And I think I ruined my skates skating on it.

  21. Why would Michelle want to risk an injury on synthetic ice that she is not used to skating on? And that assumes that jumps are even possible on fake ice. And why shouldn't she skate in Singapore? I would love to go there and, for all expenses paid, it's a no-brainer, isn't it? It also fits nicely as a prelude to her diplomatic trip next month.

  22. Frankly speaking, I'm disappointed with MK's skating. Ice being Synthetic or not, She should've not skated when she couldn't show even a little part of her best. She looks so heavy on the ice.

  23. People need to chill out. You're acting like this was some staged production where she was supposed to go all out and do a program. The rink looks to be less than half the size of a standard rink and if it's artificial/synthetic/bullshit ice, why should she risk hurting herself trying to be flashy and do jumps and spins? That'd be brainless and so not Michelle's style. She's there for her upcoming envoy duties and that little show was probably just an added bonus that she obviously improved b/c she didn't have enough room to do the actual program.

It's great to see her out there whether she's doing a program or skating circles.

  24. Even if she's just gliding around doing compulsory figures or or back crossovers the whole time, she makes skating look like an ABSOLUTE ART! Michelle Kwan is the most AMAZING thing to happen to Figure Skating since Sonja Henie. Though, she never won Olympic Gold, her artistry, tenacity and perseverance is what has made MILLIONS of people around the world turn to her for inspiration both on and off the ice! She truly is a legend and wonderful ambassador for the Sport of Figure Skating and for the United States!
