  1. Yay for Musty! Sorry Komova hit the bar, but her and Musty had a great hug at the end.

Musty - great comeback for her. :D

  2. The Americans have nothing on butch faces toe point.

  3. I think that Mustafina could be a super model. If only she was 10 inches taller.

    1. No she couldn't. To be a supermodel these days you need to have ginormous cheekbones and a BMI of 12.

  4. How dare you!! Shawn Johnson has taught us that an ACL tear is impossible to come back from, I mean their legs had to be practically amputated.

The only things gymnasts can do after they tear their ACL is go shopping and endure weeks of grueling dance training on DWTS

  5. Personally I was thrilled she tore her acl. I just felt it was bad that she came back. Her gold was the low point of the olympics. A career ending injury would have been more welcome. Maybe I am slightly catty for saying that but she is a cunt, not a diva, a count.

    1. It's okay Aly. We know you're trolling us here and you're mad she beat you with a tragic BB routine because your UB routine was even more tragic, and you stayed on the apparatus. Incredible.

      What an accomplishment.

Hope Spivey thanks you. You've moved her up a notch.

    2. Wow - bunch of sickos (10:32 and 12:18) - Mustafina was overscored throughout this competition, but I am glad that she overcame her injury, and her attitude is not nearly as annoying as Komova's - 12:18: Aly is far too classy to troll in this fashion - She performed superbly in team, but admittedly had some baubles in the Indiv AA - Such is life - Mustafina did not deserve the bronze over Aly, but Aly handled her loss with grace - The two of you could stand to learn a lot about grace, but your kind never does....sad

    3. Yeah well at least we are not blind like you 5:49. Anyone who thinks Aly is better than Mustafina is clearly demented. It's as simple as this: beautiful vs ugly gymnastics. I vomit in my mouth every time Aly attempts a toe point.

    4. Anon 7:21: So tell me, what do you think about Mustafina's beautiful (sarcasm intended) form on her triple fulls? - Oh yes, so exquisite to watch - And look, she lost to Aly in the floor - Clearly the judges must be demented also - If only we could all possess your eagle eye and wit

  6. She could have won vault as well, certainly with Maroney vaulting to her ego... I mean Ass... (Seriously she was acting like she was a default gold medalist all games -it ain't over til the fat lady sings honey).

The judges seemed intent on giving Douglas all the scores she needed to win the AA final. Komova is more than 3 tenths better than Douglas on Bars but they made damn sure to keep Douglas' score in pace with it just in case she wobbled on BB, and they gave her that huge score on BB (seriously Douglas is not better on BB than either Komova or Ponor, nevermind Sui Li).

There simply was nothing the Russians could have done other than do what Komova did on FX on every single apparatus to win that AA final. They needed to be flawless. Douglas and Raisman didn't. It was evident in the first rotation when they threw out scores of 15.8/9 for vaults that simply didn't merit them (yes, Komova's score seemed high high but off the horse and in the air she was easily cleaner than both US gymnasts).

The Russians need to just face the music. The US are basically what the Russians and Romanians were from the stone age all the way up until 2004 or so. Favored. They'll just have to deal with what every other country competing gymnastics during those times had to deal with. Your mistakes are magnified, theirs are given the benefit of a doubt.

There's no other explanation for Raisman tying Aliya's score for the Bronze, even with a BB fall, with her mistakes on BB and that tragic UB set nevermind her execution even on FX leaves much to be desired. 4th place for a gymnast that has worse form than Hope Spivey...

  7. Good for her. I was really pulling for Beth but Aliya's bemusement at her unexpected bronze was rather touching.

  8. some of the Russian fans are becoming quite annoying. she won celebrate, there is no need to fuss about a competition that already happened. you guys swear that these Russian gymnast are perfect. you are willing to point out every other country gymnast mistakes or form breaks. but when it comes to Russia its like you have selective eyes. there is nobody to blame for their mental mistakes on team finals. or for Komova huge mistakes on vault or her sloppy landing on her bars routine in AA final, or that her floor difficulty was only a 6.0, or that she seems to not know how to connect her skills on the beam in a fast manner without balance checks or wobbles, pretty lines does not cover those. is called executing, you can have all the pretty lines in the world but you need to execute, this is not a beauty pageant its a sport. if Douglas had not fuck up her routine on finals today she would gotten 5th place, if Komova had not hit the low bar or come up short on her landing she would have gotten silver. but once again it comes back to what EXECUTION. stop crying, if they want to win with all their pretty lines and faces just like Mustafina today execute. by the way I am super Happy for her winning she is one of my favorites along with jinnan, Jordache, and Gabby.

  9. Another thing, some of you guys are pretty sick and disturbed. to actually want some of these girls to fall and have injuries is really very disgusting attitude. I understand that there is a lot on anti American hate, but the go down to there level is to validate some of their ignorant statements

    1. Short and sweet: Very good points - Do not understand the anti-American spirit - Threatened in some way? - Pathetic, really

  10. oh, come on. look at the scores - if vika and gabby both went 4/4, vika would have won. the judges wanted to give her the title, but she wandered around on her vault landing like a lost child. it's not the only place she lost points, either. she gives away tenths all over the place - bent knees at the end of her ub routine (and that awful 1/2 turn that never reaches handstand), wobbles on beam, landings on floor. if she had fought for her vault landing like she fought for every other routine that night, she would have won. i'm sorry that you're disappointed in the result, but the best gymnast of the night won. there was no fix. if you genuinely believe komova was robbed, go back & score the event yourself. report back with your findings. you'll be surprised by how much komova gave away.

(i do agree, though, that aly should never have tied aliya. her amanar should have been scored right around a 15.5, especially compared to what gabby did.)

people need to get over the result. komova is a lovely gymnast and i was cheering for her, but i'd prefer a champion who went 4/4 a thousand times over. the podium was exactly right.

  11. Don't be an idiot. I never said Komova was robbed. I said the scoring was suspect. Douglas' scores ballooned for the AA final. Even the commentators were suprised at her UB and BB scores.

It's not their fault. VT is judged way too high and too leniently. It's the polar opposite of Athens. Any Amanar gets a great score retardless of quality or overall whole-skill mechanics these days, and gymnasts are basically forced to train it to win AA gold unless they have such a ridiculous D/E advantage on one apparatus that they can make up for an almost 1 point deficit on that apparatus (i.e. Nastia on Bars in Beijing - primarily because the only other Bars specialist in the AA [Semyonova] was even weaker than she was on VT).

If I thought Komova was robbed, I'd have said it. I think she was the victim of scoring inconsistencies, not in her favor. The judges were more than willing to give out favorable scores to the US gymnasts and those not threatening for the AA gold. Musty's BB score was also suspect considering the amount of wobbles she had just standing around or walking down the BB nevermind that Arabian should have been almost a point and a half off her score just on its own (plus the short landing and step on the dismount).

  12. I meant bars specialist who was decent in the AA in Beijing, not *period*. I think there was a good Ukranian UB gymnast in the AA, but I couldn't care to think back that far.

    ReplyDelete
  13. where was she victim of scoring inconsistencies? she was given a 15.4 for a vault where she took at least three .3 steps off the mat... she would have easily gotten a ~16 if she'd landed it like douglas or raisman. there is nothing inconsistent about their other scores - they're all perfectly justifiable.

the vault scoring was bad, but it was bad across the board for any country that flung an amanar. see: maria paseka's amanar in vault finals. if you want to talk about the vault code & judging, that's a different conversation (and i suspect we will agree about the current code, lazy judging, and the horrific ramifications for the sport).

  14. Wow, Anon 10:44 and 12:12; also Anon 11:12 - Komova was way out of her league throughout this competition - She was given scores that she did not deserve (read: INFLATED) - The only apparatus on which she performed well consistently was the bars and....oops - not even the bars (5th?) - Your bias is incredibly transparent; second only to your blindness - Douglas deserved her win in every sense of the word, as did team USA - Team Russia should have gotten bronze at best - And don't worry; for Rio, the US will have a new crop of gymnasts that will again kick Russia's (among other teams) hindquarters - The tide has indeed 'turned'

  15. There seem to be some disgusting anti US and anti Russian ramblings, saddest part of gymnastics for me. Anyone who wishes or rejoices in failure, or even worse injury of any gymnast is an epic cunt who should find another sport to troll. You have no place in this one.
