This and That

What do you make of the Olympic leos?  Will Maroney ever not tilt her head in a photo?!

Tidbits from the last mock meet at camp:

EBee Priceonly did bars (sans dismount) and apparently has a bruised heel.

Raisman fell off beam and landed her first pass complete out on bounds on floor.  Her vault was 'scary.'

Gabby Douglas fell on beam (shock.)

Wieber looking steady but labored.  Muscled bars had a few struggles, but was strong everywhere else.

Kyla Ross did a DTY and was decent everywhere.

Maroney was solid everywhere.  Big cheers for her bar routine (as thought she has been struggling lately), has not changed her floor pass or her steps on her third pass.  Martha was cheering loudly for her on bars.

Meet the 18 out Olympians of London 2012.

The four key women of Jordyn Wieber's life.

Chen Yibing is optimistic about his knee injury.  He aims to be the first Chinese gymnast to win back-to-back individual Olympic titles since Lou Yun on vault in 1984 and 1988.

Wes Campbell apparently looked like 'pure sex' in training at Liberty yesterday in a blue tank top and black tights.  He moved beautifully according to reports.  Max Aaron landed quad toes and triple axels.  Brandon Mroz, sporting a baseball hat, 'looked and skated like a homeless person.'  Kemp and King have upgraded to side-by-side grossly underrotated triple toes.

Felicia Zhang and Nate Bartholomay won the senior short at Liberty last night and looked strong according to friends who were in attendance.  She skated well and only had a slight stepout on her triple toe.  Felicia is back in touch with her inner Kyoko Ina.  My friends are obsessed with the fabulous Kloe Chanel Bautista.  They have requested that we all change our drag names in her honor.  "The competition did not go well for Kloe Chanel, but she remains the fiercest bitch on the block."

  2. The leos may be a little busy - but I already like it MUCH better than many of the 2008 leos (especially the one that reminded me of Starkist Tuna for some reason). I also appreciate the domination of blue, the incorporation of all three flag colors, and the minimization of red - for it seems that too many of the recent U.S. leos have heavily emphasized red. All that red gets tiresome.

I also sort-of hope that no individual from the U.S. team has a pink fetish ala Nastia - all of that damn bubble-gum pink....this isn't a slumber party damn it.

    1. I agree with you 100%. I didn't know anyone else held the same sentiments as me on US leotards. Now only China, Japan, Canada, Russia and Korea will be wearing all red. Thank God Nastia didn't make the team so I don't have to throw up every time I see her in a pink leotard.

    2. Scary update-Team USA showed up for training in PINK leos. Shades of things to come in PT this coming week? :)

  3. Those leos are WAY too busy... I like the concept but it needs to be toned down. Nice to see blue though

    1. The American flag is busy to begin with. 13 stripes and 50 stars? oO! It doesn't get any busier than that! I long for the day that people can use their imagination and stop B&M'ing about things that doesn't matter at the end of the day!

  4. I like these new leos a lot! They're fun and super patriotic (finally! I was getting so tired of the hot pink and dark purple leos). I also really like the ones they're wearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

  5. The leotard on the left will kill any bodyline they have.

    2. Oh.

OK, this leotard will kill any bodyline they have.

    1. He got it from GGMB. AJ -- Shouldn't you be crediting GGMB or at least the individual poster who shared the info?

  7. Is...is that Kerri's office? And her leo is stuck to the wall like a sad tissue paper? You can go to any craft store and they'll frame it for you, promise!

I don't know why, but that back wall is making me sad. Pictures of one of your best moments in your life deserve a frame, yes?

  8. I am super glad to see patriotic colours and not the #hotpinknation crap, but those suits are going to take a bit to get use to. Ha. I guess I shouldn't laugh because they're going to the Olympics regardless of the suit and I'm not.

  9. Better than Beijing. I'm not super keen on the type of stripes (a bit candy cane), but a better quality image might change my mind. Glad to see blue and white more than the red. Tired of red. Hopefully these are the qualification leos and the finals will be slightly less busy (I'd like to see something like Kyla's patriotic Nats leo), but even if they are the finals idc. At least they're red white and blue.

And anything is better than #hotpink (though these girls do not stop talking about it; I do not remember being obsessed with hot pink when I was sixteen).

  10. Oh. Um. Those are...ew. I think might actually prefer the hot pink. I mean uh, what?

  11. The picture looks so dopey with half the girls wearing a different leo. Kidding, I know they really aren't. But I'm not kidding about it looking dopey, they should have posed the entire line the same for a better effect.

  12. I think those leos are the ugliest thing I have ever seen.

  13. What gets me is the big chunk of jewels or whatever they are on the right side. Stars maybe? It looks like crap and they should've just went with the simple single, maybe double, lines of basic jewels all the way across. Also, the location for the cut of the white and blue will make the already broad shouldered Jordyn and Aly look even more broad shouldered. This leo is definitely for the long and lean not for the "sturdy" as Martha like to say.

    1. I LOVEEEEE that leo!! So beautiful. But I doubt it is used!

The red leo on SI is okay, but not great. The one in the picture above quite simply atrocious, way to much going on there! Simple and elegant is what they should go for in the Olympic designs...

      These two are great: http://www.gkelite.com/Gymnastics-Shopby-UltimateBrillianceLeotards/1001

    2. Oh, I wish. But competing while covered in a bunch of Swarovski crystals probably wouldn't work.

  15. Did you see what the poor athletes have to wear to the opening ceremonies? The US has only worn the exact same outfit 20 other years before. The hat this time is really unfortunate though.
