This and That
An interview with Rita Wieber. My inner Jill Zarin is calling up the Countess to gossip about all of these gym moms who are counting their chickens before they hatch. Then again, Jill would totally agree to a fundraiser if she could get it or guilt another person forever by offering to organize it. I do love a good Dina Lohan who takes a slice of the spotlight for herself. Her hair is showing hints of the great Kate Gosselin, which is always appreciated for humor's sake. We may need to read her book. Rita is showing off a lot of look with the earrings and the highlights and all those girls. She may find herself a guest spot on Dance Moms if we are lucky.
Marissa King severely damaged her shot to make the Olympic Team by falling on three events at Team Great Britain's tri-meet this weekend. Her vault score of 14.250 will not help her chances as it was only fourth best on the team. This is evidence of how difficult it is to make a comeback to elite from NCAA. Marissa, who has largely kept up her skill level, has struggled with the physical and mental challengers of putting elite routines back into competition. Imogen Cairns struggled on bars, but had relatively decent scores compared to her teammates on the other events. Beth Tweddle competed only bars, but scored a meet high score of 15.450. Scoring overall was quite low. Danusia Francis' 13.950 on beam tied for the highest beam score in the meet. Results
Kyla Ross bluntly stated that she should be on the Olympic Team. Jill Zarin is all over that comment as well. The article does say she will stick around another four years if she doesn't make it, but many athletes claim they have no intention of stopping until the selection process sucks the life out of them.
Mark Hanretty and Garrett Kling are officially the finalists for the Young Artists Showcase. Unfortunately, the finals are the weekend of Olympic Trials for gymnastics, so we have more important things to fret over.

Kyla Ross will likely make the olympic team, but with a 6 foot 5 inch father, I don't see her even making it to worlds next year.
ReplyDeleteI like Kyla's confidence, finally some honesty, it's so much better than Wieber's "I hope they take me in the team", yes, she is consistent, she has high start values, she's good at bars, they should take her. Her gymnastics bores me to death but they should take her.
ReplyDeleteYou can't compare, Jordyn's Mom, to Dina Lohan. Or those other reality t.v. Moms, unlike them she has a real serious job. Not just living through her daughter. She's an ER Nurse. That means a-lot of work hours & difficult high pressure situations.
ReplyDeleteEither Kyla or Sarah should be on the team. Kyla said she's sticking around, even if she makes the team. I love how people are complaining about Kyla's gymnastics. When all I ever hear is, I wish gymnasts would do things with good execution. Rather than have super high difficulty. Kyla's gymnastics is extremely clean. Pointed toes, beautiful leaps, rarely wobbles, & she has the best double turn with leg up being done on FX. Her bars are very clean & pretty. I love her lightness on beam. She really has improved her performance on floor. Watch her FX from last year, there is a difference. All you can ask is that a gymnast continues to improve & works on their weakness.
I don't find Kyla's gymnastics boring because of the lack of difficulty, I just think she lacks that special sth that separetes a gymnast from the others. I agree she has improved on floor ar a performer but I still think her presentation doesn't live up to the music she has chosen and she throws her head back like 16 times. She is a great gymnast, but not the one I'd like to see as olympic champion
DeleteThat has got to be one of the worst bars routine Beth has ever done in such a long time... Hope it's just rust from the time off following surgery!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I've never been able to enjoy Tweddle's bar work. There's a heaviness to her swing imo that's offputting. But she does have some mad skills. A bit archy on some of her handstands here but she'll likely clean those up by the Olympics.
DeletePretty photos of Julianne, but it's like a crotch retrospective.
ReplyDeleteI really wish I liked Kyla more. Except for the amanar, she only competes skills she can do well, she has great execution etc. However, as others have mentioned, she does seem to lack certain spark in her gymnastics that forces you to look at her. Even Chellsie who had pretty horrible execution at many of her skills had that.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that'd be a cute ad if Shawn were, oh, 5 years old. Talking about moms cleaning up messes when the kid is an adult? C'mon, have a little dignity!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty embarassing especially if you know that Shawn's 20. But I guess it's suppose to be cute (I think it's cheesy) and she does look younger than 20 imo.
DeleteWhat's with Julianne and all the crotch shots? I think I have just lost respect for her; she reminds me of Lindsay Lohan. Also, her pointe pose is terrible -- barely has a nice arch.
ReplyDeleteHough is a ho and the only reason she gets these roles is because she is pretty. She cannot act.
