This and That

Note to Olympic AA Contenders: If you're going to water down to a DTY, it can't have legs that look like that.

Agnes Zawadzki visits Omaha.  She is back to blonde and looks much better.

McKenzie Wofford's bars from camp.  She may not make the Olympic Team, but she is going to get KJ Kindler an NCAA Championship.

Part 1 of Chinese Nationals AA

Oksana Chusovitina qualified first on vault at age 87.

Dare Maxwell in podium training at JO Nationals.

Briley Casanova at JOs.

Pua Hall at JOs.  Note that she had previously been offered a scholarship to Utah, but it was rescinded when she did not accept it immediately.  I see somewhere like LSU in her future.

  1. Let's not forget, Aliya did not water down, she's not going for excecution over difficulty, she was seriously injured and it's great she has her DTY back after only one year, she's fighting to get that amanar back.
and age 87? I guess you're being sarcastic but you kind of overdid it :P
    LOVE McKenzie Wofford's upgrades

  2. You can't blame the injury on Mustafina's leg form. It was like that before.

Yes, he is making a joke about Chuso compete for so many yrs.

    1. It's not what I meant, her twisting form always was and always will be bad. But the post said "If you're going to water down to a DTY, it can't have legs that look like that", I just wanted to point out she is not going to water down, she's hoping to get an amanar

    2. A DTY is a watered down vault for someone doing an Amanar. AJ's point is that if you can't do the difficulty, you have to be clean. We know she is trying to get the Amanar back.

    3. Oh then I agree, sorry my english aren't great and I thought "water down" means doing sth less difficult than you can/playing it safe. My bad.

  3. Actually, you can blame the injury on Mustafina's leg form, you just can't blame the leg form on the injury.

  4. Re Musty's legs & the Olympics ...as if the E-panel cares. When she chucks her amanar in London she'll probably get an E-score of 8.9, helicopter legs and all, compared to Jordyn, Gabby's, whoever's much cleaner amanar which will get 9.050-9.1

  5. Chusovitna's form in the first vault was horrible. Ugly, ugly. Much better in the second vault, but I guess we are seeing why the Chinese and US are the ones who win the golds if that was their leading scorer. Mustafina needs to stop all twisting elements cuz, daymn, she'll be lucky if she doesn't blow out her knee again in the next year or so.

I've been watching the Chinese nationals videos you've posted and are they open to all ages? Because I swear girl they showed sitting getting her vault score can NOT be more than 12. On the outside. I don't know the athletes well enough on the Chinese team (except for Cheng Fei) to figure out if she is one of their regulars (and I can't read Chinese to figure out who's score they are showing), but if they show up to the Olympics with that little girl, the Beijing shit-storm/media circul will seem like a calm summer's day.

  6. I like Mustafina, always have, but her twisting form looks like it has actually deteriorated. Yes, it was terrible before, but it's atrocious now. I hope the judges CLOBBER her in E score at the Olympics. She is channeling Nabieva and Ponor in her twisting.

    1. She will only get a 0.1 deduction for bent legs... In 2010, she was receiving an E-Score of 9.2 for her Amanar despite the terrible form

  8. Mustafina's twisting form is way worse than Ponor's now! Compare their floor routines from Euros. That horrid mess that was Musty's team FX! I didn't even mention vault yet.

Jordyn's E score won't be that low, she did score in the 15.7 to 15.8 range at worlds. But I think you're right, Musty will be closer than she should if she chucks her Amanar. Jordyn has improved since worlds. Her Amanar at American Cup was fabulous! I really hope Mustafina doesn't do the Amanar. I think she could really injure herself, with her worsening twisting form.
