Back In Action!

Mao Asada won the short program at Japanese Nationals as a Christmas gift to everyone!

Unfortunately, her weird-boob costume issues continue.

  1. Oops. 3A<(two foot), 3Lo<<+2Lo<<, 2A.

  3. What is up with that red bra over the black dress, that's so distracting, maybe that was the idea.

  4. Why would her flip be < ?
    That makes no sense.
Anyway, at the end she should've grabbed the flowers on her boobs and thrown them in the air. It would've been much more dramatic. Anyway, those flowers need to go. I thought she got over her dress issues with her new LP dress, but I guess old habits die hard...

good for mao, that 3A looked underrotated, but i do think she should be sent to worlds,so i don't mind if she got a few extra points

  7. Is she making some progress to correct her jumps? I don't see any improvements in her jumps. 66.22 she got with those shaky jumps is a heck of a joke.

  8. She is going for the jumps and not popping them. That is already an improvement.

  9. I love Mao as much as any of her fans, but I really don't see any improvement on her jumps. Or on any of her skating skills. I was watching her program without any sound and I thought it was her Masquerade program all over again.
At that dress needs to be burned. Or retired indefinitely. Either one is good.

Why do you think she should go Worlds?
It's not fair. Akiko is scapegoat!

Now, I totally agree w/ AJ.
The Japanese Skating Federation has had a long history of cheating and bullshit.

  11. You can tell Japan picks their World team based on Nationals results, because that score for Asada is HIGH. But at least Japan understands Asada's potential. You think the USFSA will throw Czisny a bone for her good international results? I think they'll leave her home even if she gets 3rd by a narrow margin. Sad.

  12. I felt Akiko was underscored but seriously, that's no reason to put the blame on Mao. The JSF was simply expecting some improvement from her GP performances and she clearly gave them one.

  13. I think Mao should go to worlds because worlds are in march,Mao is showing improvement,so by march she should do even better, her scoring potential is much higher.
I like Akiko and prefer her to go over Kanako Murakami but not over Mao.

  14. The expecatation for Mao has become SO LOW that now if she just lands the jumps people will go crazy lol BUT to me 3A is >> and even 3 Lo looks >. Plus, I don't see ANY improvemnets in her jumps technique wise. I guess she ditched that idea and just tried to regain her old self, just like what she said in the interviews.

  15. Mao, you are supposed to wear bra INSIDE the costume, not outside.

  16. Does it really matter what costume Mao wears after last season? Tat must have had a fire sale and the only one buying was Mao's mother. LOL!

Poor girl, between the hideous music and god awful dresses it should stand as a testament to the human spirit that Mao even showed up in Vancouver.

  17. Why was Akiko's PCS only 29? :'(

  19. I think her flip is much better than before, so light and easy.

  20. I think > would be overrotated and >> would be an upgrade. < is underrotate and << is downgrade! If you saw 2a>> that would be 3A!

  21. I wonder if Mao is wearing Victoria Secret.

It is so distracting watching her skate with her bra outside.

hmmm... it must be an "IN" thing

  22. Oh please someone give her a boob job she cleaerly wants it.

  23. Poor, poor Akiko! They gave her that unfair score to eliminate any possibility for her to climb back to the podium after the free. It is sad to see the sportsmanship in figure skating being ruined again and again.

Akiko's fate seemed to have been predetermined so that another skater can get to the podium for sure as long as she stays on two feet. Don't even bother with the quality of the jumps or choreography.

Don't they realize that this kind of favoritism actually ruins the skater in the long run? Honor is more important than winning no matter what.

  24. It's the Japanese Nationals so the positive bias is to be expected (the announcers sounded like she broke some WR or something), but honestly, even if she does manage to land all her jumps eventually, I find this program underwhelming.

It's quite frustrating b/c I know Mao has the potential and I'd like to see her do well, but she seems to lack the proper support team to craft the "total package"...her outfits, while the least of her issues, are a case in point.

Also, are her triple axels REALLY triple axels? Every time I see them replayed in slow-mo, they don't look as cleanly executed as the ones by the likes of Midori Ito.

  25. It's Tarasova who choreographed Mao's SP this season, so her costume choice must be still influenced by TAT.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nobody can compete with Midori's 3A's in term of height and distance. Her jumps are even better than some of the men. So it's not fair to compare Mao to her. However, I do feel that Mao's 3A looks more elegant. Midori had the leg wrap after all. It's so funny to see people complain about Mao's 3A when male skaters often get away with subpar 3As. Lysacek's 3A quality was among the worst but his did not get dinged as often as Mao's.

I know! I feel especially sorry for the people whose argument/opinion lies in attacking the skater's physical appearance.
It's a really shallow and low attack :/
