This and That

MLT updated Gymnastike about the World Selection Camp.

Jody Flatt is pissy about how her daughter's jumps and her endorsement prospects have gone in the shitter. While I'm not a fan of Tara Modlin, there is only so much one can do for Rachael (especially when Mama Bear is such a nightmare.)

Jessica Lopez is focusing on 2012. (This means she has no shot at medaling at the upcoming Worlds.)

Tai Babilonia is reinventing herself.

Adam Rippon did an interview with Lifeskate.

Mama Hults posted a training video of Nica with Chris Burdette at Texas Dreams:

Yu-Na and David Wilson made a video for Michelle Kwan to rehearse 'Hero.':

  1. What? Either Rachael has received offers after Nationals or she has not. Jody is claiming Rachael never received the offers, while Tara is claiming Rachael was just too busy to accept them. So it's very difficult to determine what the problem is here.

It seems like Jody may be putting the blame on Tara when it may just be that there weren't a lot of endorsement opportunities after the Olympics for a skater who honestly doesn't have a big "it" factor. She's great and all, but not a superstar or anything. All I know is that an agent is not a miracle worker. While I don't like Tara's lack of professionalism, who knows if she did anything really wrong here.

I feel like I hear the name Jody Flatt too much. Parents should not be talking to the media on a regular basis. It's too involved.

  2. Look at that. Abbott is actually taking responsibility and admitting that his skating at Olympics/other international events is what did him in, endorsement-wise.

I don't care if the entire ladies field turned into zombies in Vancouver and were unable to skate, leaving only Rachael to take home the gold. The girl is not worthy of endorsements if you ask me. Fugly skating and posture and positions.

Also, it looks to me like Tara is saying, "We got a few offers, but they conflicted with Rachael's schedule." But Mrs. Flatt is simply saying, "We received no new endorsements."

The question we need to debate now is: Which trainwreck is bigger, Tara in general or Rachael's skating?

  3. Who are the three definite that MLT is refering to? (Bross, Sacramone and...) She stated that numbers four, five and six are still to be decided so who is the third that has it in the bag?

  4. @Anonymous: I'm going to guess (hope?) that the third is Larson, but it could also be Raisman. I'm kinda surprised that both Larson and Raisman aren't being considered locks at this point. There was a rumor going around last week that Larson left the first camp early and triggered speculation that she was injured or something else happened. This might've already been debunked or proven since then, I'm a little behind in my gossip...

  5. Will the real Jody Flatt please STFU. Thanks.

  6. Wait, Hults is at TX Dreams? Did WOGA pass on her?

  7. I believe that Rachel Flatt and Jeremy Abbott did not receive any endorsement deals for products. Tara Modlin counts the SOI performances as endorsements. If she were to admit that they receive no endorsements, it would make her look like a bad agent and she would likely be fired by the Flatts. She's playing the "too busy" card to save face.

Tara's been fired by the Flatts. I know Rachel isn't a great superstar, but what about for skating products in skating magazines? Come on, the national champion could've gotten one at least.

  9. "What about for skating products in skating magazines?"

Because they were not interested in having Rachael endorsing their products. Simple as that. Sponsors choose who they want to work with, not the other way around.

  10. BTW I don't think Tara care about losing Rachael as a client. She's gotten a new one Sarah Hughes.

  11. Sarah Hughes is going to let that trainwreck of an agent manage her?? Ohhh, Sarah, why? You have a degree from Yale! You should be smarter than that!

  12. Rachael and mom need to take a true look in the mirror at Ms. Flatt's skating.

Jeremy bombed at the major comps and another American won the big prize which would push him in the background but of course he's been invited to shows because his skating is actually great.

  13. I love Tai Babilonia. The clips of where she and Randy win the 1979 Worlds are up at YouTube. They (the clips *and* the skaters) are such a joy to watch.

  14. Someone posted this on the original article....I think it's pretty funny...."Has anyone every actually watched Rachael Flatt? It's like watching chubby paint dry. Why would anyone give her an endorsement? I just cant wrap my head around why she would even need an agent/manager? If that's the case, I wonder if somebody could represent the Ficus plant that I have in the corner of my office?"
