This and That

Stolbova and Klimov captured pairs gold at JGP Austria.

Lichtman and Copely captured dance gold.

JGP Austria videos continue to pop up here and here. Results.

Evgeny Plushenko announced that he would like to coach after he competes in the Sochi Olympics. Mister Mother Russia would make an excellent coaching villain to hate on. There always needs to be at least one to keep the sport entertaining.

Virtue and Moir (Voir) will debut their new Short Dance at Wednesday's Shall We Dance...On Ice?

Live stream (ladies short on now.)

Adelina Sotnikova won the short at JGP Austria. Christina Gao is currently in second and trailing by about 3.3 points. Polina Agafonova is third and Lindsay Davis is fourth.

Rumor has it that Ryan Bradley landed a role on Skating With The Stars. Rehearsals begin in October.

The FIG issued USAG a firm warning for Alicia Sacramone's failure to comply with out-of-season drug testing. She needed to be in the program for at least six months before she returned to international competition, but the FIG has sanctioned her participation in the upcoming World Championships.

Yu-Na Kim is in NYC for a two days to represent UNICEF for the International Day of Peace. If only the Yu-Na-Mao fans could follow her lead.

Videos of the Hot Hot Hot Romanian Men at their Nationals are appearing on youtube.

The Official All That Skate LA Trailer. Warning: The skaters all kiss Yu-Na's ass but do not mention Kwan. Note Sasha Cohen's pair skills:

  1. I thought Plushenko was banned from competing in the next games?

  2. Plushenko could ask to be unbanned under the rule he was banned under according to reports. He could be Mishin 2! So maybe if he is not reinstated he will go right to coaching.

  3. The audio of the first JGP-Graz video is not lined up with the video. It's of course better than nothing, but it's driving me nuts! Might as well mute it.

  4. USAG fail. Seriously, wtf. Why would they jeopardize Alicia and the team like that?

  5. Off topic, but CGA just tweeted that Jetter and Whitcomb were invited to the final camp. No news on anyone else.

  6. Yu-Na gets like 200 reporters to come to the airport to see her. That's incredible.

  7. Of course they're going to only talk about Yu-Na (and edit video segments to focus on her). It's not Kwan's show.

  8. wow look at little Sasha! I wonder if she is planning a pair number with the always sexy John Zimmerman.

  9. It might not be a Kwan show but everyone I know is going to see Kwan NOT Yuna. They like Yuna but my friends church is planning a group of 25 plus people just to see Michelle

  10. I'm going to see Yuna and Lambiel ;-)

Not everyone's going to see ONLY Michelle.

  11. Della Bella is flying from NY to see MK both days, front row and center. I will say that Kwan being a co-headliner means a lot in the US.

  12. Obviously Kwan being a co-headliner is a huge deal. But this show I think is financially being run by ATS and the Kims, so they are the butts that the skaters are going to be kissing.

Seriously I hope ATS works because the skaters could certainly use another tour.

  13. What is Skating With The Stars? DWTS on ice?

  14. WTF was that David Pelletier comment about her being the best in 20 years? Since who? Debi Thomas? What does MK need to do to get a little respect on that rink?

  15. I loved Sotnikova! She's got the whole package. Great jumps and style. No wonder she won with such a huge score. Now she needs better choreography.

  16. No one said people were only going to see Kwan they said many were. I am flying from NY for both days also JUST TO SEE Michelle. Yuna is my bathroom break.

  17. LOL...David was kissing butt for sure because Yu na isn't the best in 20 years. I like Michelle's response...she's a great skater and a great OGM. She has the best 3/3 that I've seen in awhile that's for sure but I still don't think she's better than Michelle in her day. I still wouldn't put her ahead of a couple of skaters. Yu na just happens to be one of the best skaters (Mao the other) at this time that won her Olympics and can do an amazing 3/3.

  18. Is it really the USAG's fault that Alicia wasn't getting tested? She's been in the gym for months, even if she wasn't sure she was going to make a go of 2010 until say late spring or something it would have been smart of her to get into the testing pool ahead of time! Is the burden of arranging that on the athlete? I wonder what they did about Kayla Williams since she went from level 10 to elite to world team so quickly. There was no way she was in the testing pool unless USAG is testing level 10's. (do they?)

I guess Ms Val better make sure Zama's getting tested early if she wants to try for 2011 World team
